20,000 Rpm 2.4l V8

Heres the new Cosworth F1 engine. 20,000 RPM 2.4 liter V8. Should make around 750 bhp. Enjoy.

That thing's crazy. I wonder how much an engine like that costs.

How much does it cost, well, i do not think you can buy one. As for actual costs, i dont know. I read an article on cosworth engines and they keep everything top secret, they would not allow them to take pics of some of the stuff. They are nearly perfect, everything is like butta. I think they only allow a certain amount of boost or something like 6 psi, in champ cars, and they put out so much horsepower, its pretty amazing, im curious whats the difference between a champ car engine and F1, nevermind just looked it up!

its for F1 not champ car. Williams was running the BMW V8 engine during testing this week, they were way slower than the current V10s. God bless the FIA trying to make F1 as boring as possible.

I know, I even said that, but they are sooo similar, it was just for the sake of conversation. In other countries champ cars are called Indy cars, but not in america, Indy is now a trademark here in the U.S. Also did you know F1 cars used to be turboed.

Not sure of this but I don't think alot of champ cars or F1 cars rev up that high. 18,000-19,000 is the highest ive heard of so 20,000 is a big deal and they say it can be pushed to 21,000 if needed. Not sure maybe someone can clarify.

I know Ferrari F1 engines rev considerably higher than others, howeverI can't find on the net how high the F2004 engine can be revved at.

Most are revving to 18k RPM, since they're 3L V10s right now.

For the 2006 season I think, they're changing over to the 2.4L V8 and they should rev to 20k RPM+.

thats what that motor is, even though cosworth doesn't have a team to use it so far. I've heard that BMW and Honda have had their V8s over 21,000 during dyno testing. I wouldn't doubt if they make it to 22,000 by the end of the 2006 season.

Honda has said they are looking for 1000hp and 20,000 RPMs out of their 3.0l V10 for the last races of the 2005 season, kinda a last horah for the V10s.

Champ cars used to rev that hard, like 16,000+, but they raised allowable boost pressure to ~6psi, so they now only rev to 12,000. The sound of that f1 engine is unimaginable, I wish i could drive one for a day, man it would be sweet. Did you know bob sledders endure more g's that F1 car drivers?

I'm gonna think that you'll see the Mclarens get to 20,000 RPM before Honda get there. The motor that Kimi used this past weekend was just uber badass. But then again, he's just been amazing the last 2 races.

Rumor has it that BMW is looking to drop Williams and pick up the Sauber team. That would be pretty interesting.

BMW already purchased Sauber, they had a press conferance. The new rumor is that Williams will get Honda engines in exchange for letting BAR keep Button for another year.

I thought that Honda was looking to drop BAR this year, for such a shitty perfomance. BAR hasn't been competitive at all. Sato has all kind of problems with his car. Button isn't doing much better, but has been somewhat impressive at the last 2 races too. At least he managed to finish them *and* score some points.

Renault has come out of nowhere this year. From my opinions, they were back there with the Jordans and whatnot. They weren't too competive, inbetween Honda, Ferrari, BMW Williams and Mclaren. I'm just really impressed at that team this year. But, I still pull for Honda.

Honda bought a 45 percent stake in BAR and is plannining on buying the team to make it a factory team, much like Ferrari, Renault, Toyota and now BMW. by 2006 possibly 2007 its goin to be Honda F1.

I'd love to see them add Mugen to the mix too. I mean, why not? Mugen is already in the Le Mans series. At least I saw a Dome Mugen car at the 24 hours of Le Mans a few weeks ago.
