The light comes on because of a problem (like unplugging the wire under the seat set the code for a bad seat sensor). To keep from deploying the bags while driving down the road, if there is any problems with the system, the bags cannot deploy. Early airbags would deploy because a sensor went bad!!!

ah i got it!! the paper clip worked! i had to do it about 8-9 times though cause when i had to reinsert the paper clip...it didnt register all the time....finally it blinked twice and yay! thanks for the help guys...i just did this about 20 minutes ago. haha wow i'm an idiot at electrical stuff so that was a learning experience
I kept having this problem with my car...a total of three times, and what it turned out to be...putting electrical devices on or near the seat..(ie. cell phone, laptop) anything that remotly puts out electrical interference will reset the light...strobe lights could interfere..my cell fone battery blinks with LEDs and thats what set it off...
