Some folks on this board complain about how ULEV is holding back the Civic compared to the last few generation of Civic.

This may not be a fair comparison, but the TL has also achieved ULEV emissions rating.

its not that ULEV means loss in performance, it means cleaner exhaust in the end. A high performance engine can be engineered to run very clean and honda/acura prides themselves in being the best car company ever. And on ULEV.

See the problem here is not that ULEV may mean slower. It does not. The biggest problem with ULEV is in Kali-fornia. The K20 is a LEV, the D17 a ULEV. You can legally swap a ULEV into an RSX, but not a LEV into a Civic. This sucks! You can only do same or cleaner in Kali. Damn, I hate California.

The Accord V6 is ULEV, I think. But it won't fit in the Civic.

the new 500 horse corvette motor is LEV, its not the emissions standard trust me. We have a very low displacement motor with no compression and an economy cam and everyone is amazed that it has no HP....Just get a lighter car. My VP seems pretty fast for what it is. It's no Viper, but I bought a cheap, low insurance, fun car..not a headache.
