The 350Z is a no compromise sports car, designed from the ground up to be a sports car, with a superior suspension and chassis. The VQ35 motor makes nearly as much power as any EVO without the help of FI, and once you throw any type of FI into the mix, it's all over. The car tied the BMW M3 around top gear's track without being "factory tuned."
Yeah, the EVO performs better than the 350Z out of the box. But if you're talking about a true sports car, in the truest sense of the word, the 350Z outdoes the EVO in every sense. The car is a dedicated sports car, and shares no platforms with "economy compact cars." Alot more thought and engineering went into it. You can make the argument all you want, and I know you're gonna say AWD > RWD, but in all honesty it all comes down to preference. But I prefer a car that was designed as a sports/performance car through and through over a car that was originally designed as a grocery getter.
My $.02

Rep Power: 0 I have a 05 STi and I pay less than $375 a month. My car was 33k also. Your car not being paid off is whats srewing you. 486 is alot. Plus its used so who knows what was done to it.....You can get a brand new STi for that much and in my opinion....much better. But its your choice. I was paying 300 a month for my civic, and now about 360 for the STi....you do the math...hehe.

any way, I've seen Sti's and Evo's in action on road courses and Autocrosses... and performance wise, I'd take the EVO. its just got something that the Sti Lacks.
Edit: (Personally I'd save a little longer and just get an Elise... .but then i'm sick like that)
