$30k is a great downpayment on an M3.
Or, if the all-in-cash thing is a must, I'd at least try and haggle my way into a luxury car. You can always make it stupid fast later with a turbo or supercharger. But you will always be in a luxury ride.

I went to dealer to test drive the new Scion TC last night, and I saw an used EVO with 23kmiles for only $22,000 ..I thought It was a pretty good deal. oh well newayz..
FAST CAR?...
I'd say, Evo/Is300(used)TURBO/STI/SRT4/Used RSX-S +turbo..
I really like Evo/STi out of all, but I'd consider having a SUPER FAST luxury car (IS 300)

I don't know, but I think throwing down 30,000 in cash is going to **** off the dealer. A cashier's check is a different story, but cash, like someone else mentioned of that amount creates suspicion. Unless your friend wants to look like a drug dealer, I would go about paying another way.
1. Finance almost all of it. And make sure you have a high interest rate, and make sure the dealer knows you have a high rate. That way, when negotiating the price of the car, they leave the interest alone, and take off the cash on the car. Then, when your first payment comes in the mail a month and a half later, you pay it all off. (In Massachusetts there is no fee for such a pay-off, not sure about other states) Plus you will make 30 bucks if its in a savings account for a month.
2. Someone mentioned reporting the cash to the government. When I worked at a bank, a kid came in with close to 17,000 dollars. spent 20 minutes filling out forms and id checks, just to get a cashier check (not to mention checking each bill to see if its fake) to buy a car, because the dealer wouldn't accept cash. Thats not all dealers, but it could be yours.
3. Don't go posting on the internet where you will be with 30,000 dollar on you. there are some sketchy people around, and you don't want to get jacked.
4. I would consider an older S4 with low miles. They are clean, nice, and fast. If he wants new, maybe an A4 and mod it. Strictly sports car, then look at an evo...

TSX, or STi.
If he really wants peformance, a new Evo (try to score the MR, which could happen for 30k CASH.
But yeah, for the money, Evo's take to mods much better than the STi. So my hat still goes off to Mitsu.

I used to sell Hondas so I can tell you this from experience. Dealerships do not give better prices just because you are paying cash. As a matter of fact, you actually hurt the negotiating process. Dealers will give you better deals when you are financing the car because, even though they aren't making as much money on the car by selling it to you at a lower price, they are making money on what is called the "back end" which is the financing part. I have seen GMs sit back and laugh at people who think they are the shyt because the walk in with a wad of cash.
Also, in case you didn't know, Honda's have the least amount of markup (from invoice). Ford's have the highest.

Bottom line, I say go for the the EVOlUTION. My brother in law has one and is easily pushing 350hp with some mods, no internals yet. 411hp with racing gas. Car is fast and great to work with on mods. Did I mention AWD....

I think the STI is much better looking and more comfortable then the EVO! I wouldn't say sti/evos are better looking then our vics.. Its just the performance that makes it loook better...... If our car came out as a 90,000 car from some higher end company with 400 hp and stuff, people would think our car was the ****
It takes $44,000 to bring a new JDM DC5R over to the states anyway.
I wouldn't consider it slow. It's as fast as a 350Z in the quarter bone stock, and it's gearing shows could probably hit close to 160 top drag limited.

Yo
Buy my civic
take over my payments or buy the bitch out. I got a interest rate of 1.5% and have papers to prove it.
Its also less than $17,000 and you could definitely make it faster with another 3,000
That would be a total of roughly spending only 20,000 total
Ralleye Red 04 ex 2-door 21,000 miles 5-speed 5% tints loud system. black interior. flawless paint. Intake with about 5,000 miles. filter changed at every oil change.
I want the new si when it comes out next year.
For now I would get this chicks car
Pink hatch w/ special engine
$5,000

WHen i bought my Civic i bought it in cash and cash does help bargain prices cause it was selling for $13,900 and i bargained it down saying i have cash and got it for $11,700...
so buying a car in cash does help get you cheaper prices....
Now for the car i say go for a Evolution, STI, or a New V6 Accord coupe w/ HFP package...
between the Evo and STI i would personally go for the EVO b/c i think it looks better but both cars are great
the other recommendation i made was the new accord v6 coupe... that car could really pull but it doesnt have four wheel drive... but it will def hold its value compared to other vehicles....
