A few of us Mid atlantic members were leaving a restaurant in my area once and saw a couple getting out of an EL. LOL, they got out of their car and we just kinda surrounded them, I think the guy was surprised that we knew what it was.

- side airbags
- leather option
- heated seats with the leather
- different front end (05's come standard with fogs)
- different trunk
- moonroof option
- rear disc brakes
- VTEC engine
- metallic interior door handles and shift boot ring
- nice 15" alloys
- heated power mirrors
- express up and down power window (ok so i'm nitpickin now)
- automatic climate control (03+ EL's only)
- ugly faux-wood trim on the console
- slightly different gauge cluster
- remote trunk
I'd say that's about 4 grand and people seem to be willing to pay it. I know I was, and even after all the problems i had modding my car (front customization was a bizznotch) I'd do it again on an EL over a Civic. It's different, and if you were to see how many Civic sedans we have out here (I'm sure it's the same where you're at) then you'd understand why some people would pay a little more to have a slightly different car, even if it IS just a gussied-up vic.
Your viewpoint is understandable because as an American you have access to so many of these options in a Civic, but here in Canada, where they were not offered in a Honda Civic, people who had just a little bit more to spend on a Civic but not enough for say a TSX would opt for the EL which had just enough luxury features without breaking the bank. Canadians overall have less cash to spend on cars, which is why Honda carried the highest-end ES chassis over to Acura, in hopes that it would get people started with brand loyalty to the more expensive name. I'd say it worked, considering that after my great experience with the EL, I'm going back to Acura for my next car, be it a TSX or TL (need a new job first, perhaps as a gigolo).

The EL come with different models, it has the basic non leather which the price of american EX.
The leather version is actually closer to japanese "Ferio" in interior, therefore you pay a bit more. It will be the same thing you pay for a civic with after market leather seats.
the badge itself didn't contribute that much in the price.

EL base is pratically the same price as the si coupe. Or atleast it use to be until recently. The civics are priced quite competitively now. EL has disk brakes in the back, where as my car has drums, I thought that was cool.
i saw a blue one here in so fla like 2 weeks ago and i missed my exit just to keep looking at it it looked so nice plust it looked brand new as well
i wish if we can just go to canada buy it there then bring it here....
