next time you race an S2k with a V6 firebird, make sure it isn't parked on the side of the street. lol.

but seriously. a v6 firebird runs what... mid 15's in the 1/4 mile?

13.7 S2k > 15.4 firebird.

in fact, the LT1 V8 firebird is slightly SLOWER than the S2000. so you might want to rethink your position on the S2k.

assuming spyder has the auto gto, i would place my bet on s2000 because the auto tranny is a big downfall imo. now if both cars were manual, definately gto with its massive v8 power

hmmm 240hp vs 400 hp the weight difference and superb tranny of the s2k makes it quick. the highway is a whole different story
it depends on how long the street is im guessing

Back on topic, if it was a drag then a manual GTO could probably have an advantage. Auto... not sure. But if it was a road course wouldn't the S2K destroy the GTO?

Also... aren't they making a new GTO with a Corvette engine? If so i'd be interested to see some numbers.
the new gto is with a vette engine the o5 has the c6 engine ls2 400hp and the 04 has the c5 vette ls1 350hp

i dont think 50/50 is the ideal distribution for drifting... it is for autocross but im not sure if more up front or rear is better for drifting i would think more up front.

Actually, if you really think about it, more weight in the rear would be more ideal for drifting, because it would make it easier to break the rear-end loose, in order to actually perform a drift. Although, they have other ways of getting around that, such as power/torque, tire quality, caster/camber, etc.

Too bad that Honda Legend MAX isn't being produced. So, comparing a real car to one that isn't in production is pointless.

Well, sure, hypothetically speaking... but, then again, hypothetically speaking there's a lot of things that would 0wn the ***** out of that Legend. Just remember, no matter how fast your car is, there's always gonna be someone faster.

Better yet, I'd rather get a new Mini Cooper, go to a machine shop and have them make me a giant version of those wind-up key things on the back of toy cars, bolt it through the rear hatch, tie it to the driveshaft so it spins when I drive, and voila! A life-size toy car! lmao

Here is a post from the s2k forum who owns both s2k and gto.....

I own both a 2002 s2000 with 4.77 gears and a 2004 GTO with a manual M6.

The GTO is faster than my s2000 with gears hands down no questions. People have run completely stock GTO's (no cai, no slicks, no mods at all completely stock) and have gotten low 13's ....13.1, 13.2 alot of totally stock Gto's run mid 13's at 105 to 106 mph in the quarter. The car is a beast 4th gear goes up to 130 mph! From a highway roll say 60 mph the GTO is real nice! once it hits triple digits it just fly's.

automatics completly stock have also run 13.5 at say 104 mph. A bad run in a GTO is 13.8 to 13.9! Thats a good run in an s2000

My s2000 with gears could probably stick with the GTO if it was from a dead stop and I did a nice clutch drop launch but once the GTO gets above 60 or 70 the s2000
has no chance. Ls1 engine takes a few thousand miles to really get the true numbers.

GTO 3725# divide by 300 rwhp = 12.41 #/hp
s2000 2725# divide by 200 rwhp = 13.6 #/hp

Driven correctly the GTO will beat an s2000 the #/hp numbers speak volumes
The cars 1st thru 3rd are geared very similarly to the s2000...GTO 1st 44, 2ND 62, 3rd 91, 4th 130, 5th 155(governed) 6th 155(governed)

Two totally differnet cars...in my book both awesome. GTO is a sleeper alot of people have no idea whats under the hood!

A stock GTO puts down a typical supercharged s2000 numbers! Its all in the driver!

if that guy has 4.77 gears and can't beat his own GTO he can't drive his S2000 and should be slapped in the face. I ran a 13.7 stock. I have a friend with 4.44 gears, and he runs 13.4. 4.77 gears should put him almost to the 12's if not into the 12's.

also, notice how he never actually posted any times of what his S2k runs? yeah. nuff said. he can't drive his S2k for ****.

and pounds/hp means jack ****. you're taking the max hp for both cars and throwing out a number. you're at max hp for what... a whole 100 rpm in the entire range? you have to look at the entire power band, not just one fleeting moment during acceleration when the car hit max hp.

he also never said how he knows the GTO is faster. we all know the manual is faster, that's not an argument. but an auto vs an S2k is a driver's race. there is a slight advantage to the GTO, but it's still a driver's race.

that's probably one of the most uneducated posts i've seen from an S2k'er. where is that thread??
