dont get me wrong i had an 01 ex with koni struts, neuspeed race springs, swaybar, both strut tower bars and a rear tie brace before i got a srt-4. all i've done to the susp. on it is eibach springs, endlinks a strut bar and urethane swaybar bushings and they handle about the same. i'm just saying the handling argument isn't too valid. oh and as far as the modding the car thing goes, its much more fun to do the same stuff to an already fast car. with the civic no matter what i did to it I didn't see too much of an improvement. with the srt or NEON i see drastic improvements in almost every mod and it makes it more fun to drive everyday.

What type of Rear suspension set-up does the cobalt coupe have?

its 145 hp, is it heavier than the EX Civic Coupe? Our civics are about 2600 pounds. The cobalt coupe ls is 525$ cheaper than the civic. There a base Mazda 3 with 148 hp which is 14,240, slighly more expensive than the base cobalt which is 14,190.

How come the American Cars aren't much cheaper than the japanese. Mazda 3 is still made in Japan. I understand that the civic and corrola are assembled in north america but there parts are shipped from Japan. The American car companies clearly have the competitive advantage, but there still loosing market share.

Don't go there its been prooven.

Civic is a great Auto X car. Thats a type of racing where Horsepower is highly overrated.

actually no. the parts are made here. what makes the parts better, is the stricter limitations on tolerances and quality control vs that of domestics.

a civic has more american parts in it than your average ford truck.

Man this guys got some set on him A!. There are more then just one reason why buying that car is a mistake, I'll add to the allready massive pile!!!

the cars is brand new and has not even gone through thoro testing like the ford fungus, it will probably end up with a hundred recalls which may I remind you I have only got one letter in the mail for my piece of crap civic and it was over something miniscule ,not saying theres only one eitherway you guys get my point. They wont make anything for that car for at least 2 years, so your stuck with junk...LOL hell the scion tc is 140hp for 16,000.00 there alot cars out there for the same price as the civic with more HP. What were telling you and just not getting it, Pound for pound and dollar for dollar is the honda civic will out weight that hunk of munkey turd and most other cars in its class, the civic is 5 star crash rated, the resell value is higher then any other car in its class but hey what do we know!!!!

on top of all that, the SI EP3 will spank any stock 7th gen stock on drag and in auto-x, and its STILL less $$ then a cobalt SS. By 2-3k and only 3-4k more then the crap base cobalt.

yeah. me and my damn 4 cylinder running 13.7 without use of forced induction. what was i thinking.

oh and forget auto x. i mean geez, another area where my little 4 cylinder merely dominates it's class. but again, that doesn't mean anything either i guess.

I saw the car at the L.A. auto show and liked it. For the price and what your getting it is a nice car. But if you have hopes for customizing it, you better be pacient. I dot think the car will have a quick impact no matter how much they advertise it. If anything it will be like the focus, nice car that critics like and rave about but not too popular in the tuner world.

Here is what im gonna do im gonna go down and test drive the damn thing...and ill be very honest about its performance and all..

Ill look at evrything from fit and finish to performance to comfort...

Ill get back to you on this soon..

I am lost here. People keep saying how cheap you can get a cobalt yadyada...I just simply go ask about the price. And here is the following:

2005 Cobalt LT: ~19k MSRP CAD
2005 Civic LX-G (no vtec):~18.4k MSRP CAk

Please note the model I am comparing, both of them are basic model with power door and power winsheld. The only difference is cobalt has a bit more HP, but civic has sunroofs.

I am not sure what other people consider when they buy a car, but from this comparison I am pretty much sure you will simply see more Civic than Cobalt in Canada in no time. No one would pay more for a bad name car with a bit more written HP when they can a economical, reliable, nicely equiped Civic.

Is it possible that Cobalt is cheaper in the US?

Our SI(EX in the United States) Costs slightly more than the LS coupe Cobalt. The SI(EX) civic coupe has all the bells and whistles plus the extra horsepower, and a sunroof. It doesn't cost much more though.

ok, the SI (EX) is a bit fancy therefore it is a bit over priced, lets consider the most practical model.

Please notice the cobalt sedan is more expensive than Civic too! (comparing with the most sold model LS-G)!

I just don't believe the statement "you pay less to get better" applys to American car at all. We definitely made the right choice from buying civic.

Exactly. If you want to use nitrous/FI then lower compression is the better way to go. This means you can run more pressure safer since your pistons dont compress the air as much. Alot of imports run 10:1 or higher compression ratios, but under boost that is starting to get pretty high. 9:1 is a very good compression ratio to use on a turbo import if the internals can handle more air pressure from the turbo. The air/fuel mix burns safer and the engine still puts the same hp out.

So the lower the compression ratio...the less air to burn. Higher ratio means more air to burn which means more horsepower, but also means less reliable with any forced induction or nitrous. Naturally aspirated a good c.r. would be 11:1 for good horsepower numbers. understand what it means more now?
