civic vs cobalt I currently have a 04 civic lx sedan......mods include 2.25 custom exhaust, 5% tint, and some i.c.e. goodies.....i work at a chevrolet dealership and i can get a top of the line cobalt sedan for about 14k or so....i think im gonna trade in the civic, what do ya'll think ? |
Sure go ahead but Don't come back here crying that the car is a POS..Cobalt is a glorified Cavalier... But its Up to you Good luck |
Amen! |
i say you need kicked in the ass for considering it.. |
but compare the 2.2L ecotec which has 145hp and 155ft lb of torque, compared to my 1.7L motor that puts out 115hp and 110ft lbs of torque. on paper the numbers look good. plus i test drove one and it doesnt bounce like my vic does on the highway |

lol if ur even considering getting one of those atleast get the supercharged version which is still weak as hell only running 205. If ur gonna buy an american car for 21 g's (talking about the Supercharged version) get an SRT-4 or something. That 30hp which isnt to the wheels isnt gonna make that much of a difference. AND ITS A CHEVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
good luck with your new wanna b import racer car/POS hey dont wanna flame you or anything but anyone on its right mind would do that i mean is a souped up cavalier!!!! cmon man buy a tc a corola xrs or wait until fall to buy the 06 civic but a cobalt?? leave that car for the little ricer guys who want a souped up cavalier to rice it out more and think they can beat any import out there |
If you test drove one and like it, I would definately go for it. The cobalt is a respectable car in my book. I have recommended it to several people. |
Sure the SS would kick the civic's ass but civic's bigger brother, type R, would take the SS's lunch money :p |
regardless of your opinion, he's asking a serious question. post constructively or don't post at all. |
colbalt = suck nothing else to be said about it |

Buy a integra type RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR |
i love japanese cars i was watching the news the other day. the said japanese companies are catching up to amican cars and said in year 2009 japanese manufacturers will be on top |
Yeah the Cobalt SS looks like a nice car.....but we repair a whole s**t load more 2.2 GM motored cars then we do late model Civics.......I would bet money on a Honda going 300K way before I would bet on a 2.2 Ecotec going even 200K. :flush: |
I see there is a lot of conflict, and i know that there is also good things about my civic and the possibility of a cobalt. on the thing i would really like to more torque for everyday driving, which the cobalt offers...my vic just cant cruise the city would having to get up in the rpm's for daily driving and what not. i see many people have posted some good advice and also have brought up good points. thanx for yur opinions....but right now, im gonna pay off the civic so my trade in value will be better. i also know that the cobalt is the replacement for the cavalier and many people might just think its a updated cavalier, which is understandable but even so, it's still a nice car nonetheless... |
2.2L only puts out 145 crank hp?? i bet my vic puts out at least 140 crank hp now, chekc out the sig. 125whp baby, so if a cobalt puts out 130whp i think that civic 125whp > 130whp cobalt. (hint, cobalt is an elephant) |

stick with a honda.....they have much better engines and can take a lot more abuse. |
yeah torqwise it does make more, but it's also 400pounds heavier, so i guess you have to add up the pros and cons. |
