Project Car

I'm looking to start a project car. I have about 1k right now and i dont want to spend over 1500 on a car. Any suggestions on a good base car. And I dont want to spend the money on the car i have now b/c i'm selling it soon. If i decide not to do a project car i will prolly end up buying a bike. Thanks.

Zach

Any car you can find for $1000 would be a good start.
Just make sure it has enough aftermarket support so that it won't cost you a buttload to build.

Any car can be turned into a project car...question is: are you going to be able to afford it?

Go buy a decent-condition, rolling CRX shell and if you're lucky have a wee bit of cash left over to do a classic B-series swap. Or if you're more ambitious and don't necessarily want the car to be an auto-x machine an H22 swap.

What kind of project? Show, autox, open track, drag, drift, fun? That will determine what you should buy.

This is your best bet......this car with a b16 swap, some bolt ons and a 50-75 shot of nitrous hauls some serious ***. My buddy has one with this combo. The car looks like complete sh*t on the outside which makes it a supersleeper but it runs high 12 and smokes just about everything at the street races.....he makes his living off of racing this car.

I was at one time in your same position. I was trying to decide on a good car do a project on. I came to the conclusion that a 1989 BMW 325is or 325e would be a great car do do a project on. The have huge aftermarket support and you can get a good one for cheap. i figured once you are done with it (new engine, paint, interior, wheels, tires etc etc) your lookin at 15 grand.....

AM I GOING TO GET FLAMED?

I might be doing a project this upcoming summer. I'm thinkin about the 92-95 Civic Hatch. The swap motor has to be a K series. You can find a decent one for about 3K.
