Honda Motor Co, Ltd., Honda, Passenger Car

S2000, 2-door convertible, F20C1

2 Door Coupe, M/T

Convertible S2000

The check digit is a way to determine if a vin is invalid or faked. it will always be 0-9 or sometimes X. It's determined by a mathematical formula involving the rest of the VIN

Year 2002

Takanezawa Plant, Tochigi, Japan

Number 6,315 for that model year (i believe they only made about 9000 total in 2002)

The paint color is NOT listed on honda vin's

you forgot the civic hybrid, some of the accords, RL, TSX, RSX

i wonder how the quality of the accords will be since some of them are made in mexico include the hybrid verison.

Canada makes good cars apparently, since the worst problem I've had is the cloth on the door tearing off.

hmm. the only 2 plants i know of in japan that export cars are the plant in tochigi and the plant in suzuka, and neither of them export anything other than S2000, NSX, and insight.

do you have a source to back up that information? I'm talking about the entire car being built in japan, not just some of the parts.

if the vin# starts with a J then it's from Japan, right? then my accord should be from Japan, cause it starts with a J.

if japan only exports s2000, NSX and Insight, how do you explain all the cars with vin #s starting with J's and stickers Made in Japan? Here are the factories that produce some of honda's cars. I assume that these plants also export the cars they assembly since their vin numbers reflect the country of origin as japan. Also some of the links also reflect that Japan solely produces that model.

doesn't it say where the cars made and how much is american and how much is japanese on the sticker? The sticker on my car said that the engine was from japan, the tranny was from america and the car was assembled in ohio. Thought it was federal law to state where cars are assembled and where the parts are from. Maybe its just a california law then.

you are correct . last time ive looked at the 04s at the dealership, trannys were from japan, engine from the US and final assembly point in ohio. my civic, 02 sedan, had both tranny and engine from the us, and other random parts from japan, , like the radiator, final assembly point in canada.
