Temp Tag?????

I have a question to ask, and hoping maybe that someone will know.

I purcheased a car, in the state of Maryland. Now, I am flying up there on thursday to drive the car home. Now on Tuesday, Down here in south florida I will recieve the title signed over to me for the car. I though it would be simple as I get the title take it to the Tag office, regester the car for the state of Florida and drive it home. well I guess not.

So, My question is this? Can I take the title to the TAg office here in my county and ask for a Temp Tag, so I can drive it from State to state until I get home. Then regester the car in the state? Or do i need to get a TEMP tag from the state of Maryland, to be able to bring the car home?

I don't want to put my Tag that I have on the car, and get cought driving it home wityh a tag that is not regestered to this car. If I am cought I thihnk I go to jail, and they impound the car.

Any Information on what to do, would be very helpful.

Thanks

Call your dmv or look up its web site. Here in Bama we have 10 days to register, all we need is the title and the payment.

Maybe Maryland needs something to drive it around, but if you have a bill of sale, the title and your Florida driving license, most cops will not hassle you. You cannot legally register a car in a state you are not a resident in.

just look here

Your DMV should give you a temporary moving permit untill you get the car situation straited out.

See what I found

Non-residents also are eligible to secure a temporary license plate for "in-transit" purposes if they purchase a vehicle in Florida and want to drive it back home. However, proof of insurance (from Florida or home state) and sales tax in the amount required by the home state must be paid. If you feel you may be eligible for a temporary license plate, inquire through your local tax collector's office or the regional DMV office that serves your area.

though I am not getting the car in the state of florida, so I am hoping florida can Issue me a Temp tag to go and get the car. My only problem is aquiring one in maryland is the office will be closed the day I want to pick up the car.

I will have
A Bill of Sale I found one on the DMV web site and need ot print it out
A title
and a Licence
and Proof of Insurance

But I don't want to go to another state with One no plate, and two a plate that is not regestered for that car.

Monday, I am going to go in and see what they say.. I am hoping they can just give me something just to move it from there to here.

Black Del Sol S

I mean I got a great deal on it, but I am really worried about this. I don't want to half to stay another day in Baltimore just to wait for the tag office to open, so I can get a temp tag. PLus how would I get the car to the office.

So, Monday I will go into the Tag office hoping they can issue me a temp tag just to put on the car. I am worried.

See, that's what I am hoping.. I will have the title for the car on Tuesday, signed and in my name.. So, I am really hoping that the DMV can just issue me a temp just to move it from one place to another.
