shifting

does shifting at a high rpm wear down a clutch faster. three of my friends have shattered their clutches and i dont want to burn mine out. i dont know i may just be paranoid but any info would help. thanx.

Not unless you ride your clutch on the friction point often, at which point any RPM will wear it out. Hard launches aka clutch dumps are also very hard. Just learn to drive properly and you'll be fine.

No, the wearing is the same than shifting at lower RPMs, what wears most the clutch plate is shifting 1st reving up the car (when launching), or leaving the clutch half way for too much time when declutching (on any shift) while accelerating.

the manual also tells u when it is neccesary when to shift from 1-2-3 etc etc.
i wouldn't shift over 4k rpm from a dead stop to keep clutch life.

my civic dont tell me when to shift(thank god i hate when cars tell ya what to do). i dont drive it to hard. i think im just paranoid. thanks for all the info.

hahahaha shattered their clutches? ... either they had some $100 ebay clutch or they have like 500 hp

oh yes, and do NOT rest your foot on the clutch when you drive ... one member at clubrsx did that and wore out his stock clutch in 10k miles

yah all three people shattered their clutches ane had a 94 altima(he rode the clutch bad) one had a 85 300zx(shattered two days after he bought it) one had an 89 camaro(he like revvvin up high)
