I'm glad you both are okay. The guy tries to be nice waiting for you and it ends up costing him, so it's all your fault Pharoh.
Anyhow, I grew up in the mountains of New Mexico at 7500 feet elevation, so I saw deer (sometimes bears) daily going to and from school, but never hit one. I heard the excuse "Oh, a deer ran out in front of the car!". Most of the time there would be 500 feet of skidmarks leading into an off camber turn. The local cops could smell the bullshit (or deershit) a mile away most of the time. I just never understood why people wouldn't hit the freaking deer versus going off a clif. Then it happened to me.....I flipped an old 70's Bronco on a dirt road where a deer ran out in front of me.

wow... i didn't even know about this thread until just now...
ok, here goes...
The air bags didn't pop out because there was no head on collision. Thank god, cause that would've been another 2-3000.
And yeah, this is most likely coming out of my pocket cause i don't have the best record right now... even though it was either hit the dear or take the ditch, my insurance would still point the finger at me and make me pay twice over the next few years for the repairs. So it's better if i just pay for it once right now! But from the looks of it, there's about 5-6000 $ (canadian) in damages, but i'm trying to lower the cost by getting most of the parts myself and maybe doing some of the work myself.
Now why didn't i hit the deer? well, i guess it's instinct... you see something in front of you, odds are you'll try to move out of the way... besides, there probably would've been more damage had i hit the damn deer. Air bags might have deployed and there's a chance the deer would've come flying through the windshield.

Just a good thing the frame wasn't damaged!
wow, you said the frame wasnt damaged, i had a 90 crx si w/ swap b16a and hydroplaned into a interstate barrier getting off on an exit, i hit on the front driver side, did $4300 damage (that was the estimate), i dont know how, but my insurance covered it. the body was pretty much ok, new bumper and fender, but the frame was bent. it never drove right again. glad to see you weren't hurt! -- Jeremy
