speed...
really. i mean how much horsepower do we need to have a "quick" car. Im talking about Daily Drivers. I know **** hp and torque the better, but how much above base do we need to have a car that can hold its on in crazy traffic, against that punk silvarado, the insane soccer mom in the suv and so on. does anyone have thoughts on this? i know that people are all about boost or swaping, i acknowledge that in the end they are more effecient money wise but the bottom line is that vs. a IHE setup they are tripple the price. is a IHE setup enough just to liven the car up a little? thanks ahead of time for comments and wisdom.

Man, its all about timing!
Intake, headers, exhaust Is what, going to get you 20-30hp? That is pushing it too.
You can go with a turbo that will get you another 50-80hp if you have $3000 under you pillow to spend. Perhaps you can go with a engine swap? Again, if you have the money to get it, then get it.
For a everyday driver, spray that SH*T! If you research it, their is a safe amount of shots you can put into your engine without harming it that much. (You should almost 1hp per shot.)
Really you would only need Nitrous be quick enough to cut in front of them.
*Just dont go over board, Nitrous is fun and all, but too will wear your engine a lot quicker!

on the D17, you'll get maybe 7-10 whp at the cost of your low end.
7-10 whp for what? 1 grand?

To make the Civic more livable in daily driving, personally I would say another 40WHP would help! But some other ppl might say 200WHP is a must......... it's up to you.
lightweight rims could help your car overall. im talking like 15" slipstreams or those major tuner wheels. i/h/e pretty much robs low end but increase little high end (which is not worth 1g at all). with 1g, you can get a set of light wheels which could improve traction, inertia, quicker accel from point A to B, even looks
, and few others.
my hi flow cat (megan racing test pipe/resonator/hi-flow cat) was the best bolt on performance piece i've had. only cons were my malfunction lamp going off.

Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

in theory the best solution for a "daily driver" (kept under 5k alot of the time) would be a decent supercharger. They provide alot more low end gain as opposed to a turbo providing for alot of high end gain. Our cars are weak all around, but with some more torque right from idle up we would be significantly quicker. now good luck finding one.
Another plus is the lack of requirement of changing alot of other components, i.e. fuel system, headers, etc. superchargers with a nice higher flow cat-back would do our D17s so well.

im thinking about getting dezods turbo kit next summer, but then i started thinking that i could get a 99' si and put a greddy turbo and exhaust. 6th gen are ugly in my opinion but i would be running like 210-220 whp? thats seems like enough hp for a civic.
