Regular maintenance for a heavy city driver
Regular maintenance for a heavy city driver
So I recently started working as a delivery driver and am using my new 97 civic ex 5 speed... I'm not super happy about it, but the moneys good and I need the work. I do about 50-100 miles per day on the car, all city <35mph. Are there any good maintenance tips other than regular oil changes and checking fluids that I should do to keep the car in good shape? Or is this kind of driving condemning my honda to a shorter life? Any tips appreciated! Thanks!

lubecontrol.com products in the oil and gas will help keep everything clean. the only realy problem you have is if the car doesnt warm up (too many short runs on a cold day), or the starter fails from starting too much. try and leave the car on (and lock the doors) if you are making quick stops and its a safe place. but its also not great to leave it at idle more than 5 mins.

Yea, warm up your car (but you should always do this anyway) I usually wait for the needle to get 1/3 or so. The less starting the less stress you put on your car. Letting the car cool down and warm up over and over is also bad. So keep that in mind too.(this is the reason why many cabs get to 300k+ miles so easy, they never really cool and heat up over and over)
