pretty much all gas is the same wherever you buy it, the only difference is some companies put additives in, there are gasoline pipelines all over the US that run from the refineries to supply stations. then from the supply station the truck takes it to your local gas station.

what he said.

pretty much all from the same pipeline. the rest of the difference, is in the marketing ability of the particular gasoline company.

yeah sure, to differentiate the products the companies throw in nifty names for their particular mix of additives.. and some may actually be better. but I generally dont think there's any significant difference, especially when I'm driving an economy car.

but from what I can recall, just from the original source, a good amount of additives are already added in during the refinering process too.. just so nationally, engines will produce less smog, etc. if possible.

everytime we got threads like this.. there will be someone posting that they pumps the highest octane possible, etc. for whatever reason such as they can afford it, or they're not paying for it.. or its better for their engine.. etc. etc.

anyways.. I'd suggest for those that actually care, to not just take some of our word as facts, but do a quick research to find out from more reliable sources.

Ive used the new V-power and my car took well to it, Sunoco 94 was crap unless you have a turbo like my brother's Jetta. Mobil gives you *** for mileage. Shell I get fairly decent mileage all the time, BP is the best to me but we dont have a lot around here. Here is my list of brands around here.

Shell
BP/Amoco
Mobil/Exxon
Hess
Texaco
Citgo
Gulf
Merit

I think there is one or two more but that is what we have around my house.

whenever you fill up, turn your mileage odometer back to o. Then when the next time you fill up, take the number of miles you had since your last fill up, and divide it by the number of gallons you pumped.

So for instance. Say you drove 314 miles since your last fill up. And you pump 10.221 gallons of gas. Take 314 divided by 10.2 and that gives you about 32 miles per gallon.

anything above 89 gives me less mileage for some reason. I use 87 though. No point inw asting money.

My dad used to be a regional sales manager for Exxon/Mobil. He says all the gas is the same. You pay 10 cents more per gallon for additives. I buy the cheapest gas I can find (saves me $1 per tank... at about 40-50 tanks a year... saves around $40-50 a year... big whoop) and pour STP complete fuel system cleaner in when I change the oil. I figure that nets me about $25-$35 in savings each year. Not much in the entire scheme of things, but that's like 25-35 boxes of Little Debbie Zebra Cakes. Now that's what I'm talkin' about!

wouldn't really say that's true. gas starts out as 87 octane but they add powerformate (sp?) to raise the octane for the higher grades. its not really an additive.

Anyways, I dont know about your motor. But, I, like a lot of other people, notice a significant change in gas milage when using Supreme/High Octane gas. Its my car, not yours, so, dont hate on whatever octane I use.

I'm not a hater but I notice that my car ran better on higher octane than using regular. The car drove smoother and it seemed to last longer than my regular test drive.
It's good to test gases to see what runs better for your.
dealer said don't cheap gas. or don't use family owned gas stations and I quote from somehere.(family own.)
cheap meanings go kart mart gas station instead of bp/amoco

I just filled my tank with 97 octane gas. All the ricers with their turbos and ish put gas there. I filled up because I wanted to try and see what it would do and how it would act with my car. Id have to say my acceleration is pretty fukin good. But, this is the only time Im doing it. 2.85 a gallon is just not something I can enjoy.

Please, I beg of ANYONE, please, I repeat, PLEASE do NOT post about what the really high octane gas will do to my motor.
i already knew that. i just said it so it brings up 76's reputation.
