Which gas stations are the same?
I tried searching the internet a bit, but kept getting useless sites. I was just wondering which gas companies are the same.
I think I found that BP/Arco/Amoco are one. How about Shell, Texaco, Exxon? I'm just curious to see what gas is all the same when I go to a station to pump gas. THanks!

I ask cuz back home, i'd get 36+ mpg in the cit (41+ hwy) then i got to school, pumped some Mobil gas and got 23.7 mpg here in the city. Granted here at school, there are so many more stop signs and traffic lights, but a loss of 13 mpg? I tried driving a little more and pumped at the exact pump, got 26.16 mpg. Still terrible. I though going to Mobil would be a better idea, over the speedway that was cheaper (1 cent). I just can't wait to finish this take off.

I oil change religiously, and haven't had any other problems, I follow the general schedule. the thing was that it suddenly happened, the car sounds and drives fine, just suddenly, with that gas being the only variable I can think of, my mileage dropped.
Also, my parents came to visit me last weekend. They drove the Odyssey and pumped right before they left and got here on that one tank of gas. WHen they went back, I had them pump at the one Mobil gas station and they didn't have enough gas to get home on that one tank. Their mileage coming here was around 24.9~ mpg, going back (while carrying less stuff) their mileage decreased to under 24. I know that's only about 2 mpg, but they also were carrying substancially less weight.
We've checked all my tire pressures and they're fine, if not a little high, which should only increase my mileage. I want to blame the gas.
So, I guess to narrow the question down, what are the other stations affiliated with Mobil?

Another possiblity is that your parents live in a higher altitude, and going to your place might be more down hill than uphill. Gas mileage is very sensitive to even very little change in driving habbit, weather and road conditions, wind, time of the day, and stuff like that.

76 is the best, then chevron, then shell/texaco, then ExxonMobil, then BP/Amoco/Arco, then valero/ultramar. Wal-mart, costco, vons, and the cheap gas stations get gas from tesoro or other smaller oil refinerys. BUT when refiners shut down for maintance the stations they serve still need gas, so say exxon/mobil in texas is short on gas supply and Chevron in texas has a surplus in Texas and ExxonMobil in cali has a surplus but chevron in cali is short they swap gas at both locations and call it even. So you never know if your getting a blend of gasolines or strictly just one. Bottom use whatever one floats your boat. I prefer 76, when I'm low on cash I'll use Arco. I recommend using some type of fuel injector cleaner. BTW I am chemist for an environmental company in cali, I work alot at the refinerys so if there's anything I can contribute to this site it is the knowledge I possese of refinerys and gas.
Ive tried them all. So far, my car loves Chevron

Anyways, I dont know about your motor. But, I, like a lot of other people, notice a significant change in gas milage when using Supreme/High Octane gas. Its my car, not yours, so, dont hate on whatever octane I use.

maaan what I wouldnt give to be able to drive up to a gas station and just get gas without lines. Since the hurricane gas lines have been horrible because there's only like 3 stations working in the town. Hopefully more gas comes in soon
i believe how supreme/91 + gas wont do much for my civic. but i do use 89 at 76. i dont count my mileage but i just assume it actually does something rather than 91. but i dont see how 91 will give u better gas mileage? even if it did, wouldnt ppl rather buy 91 supreme over regular for all their cars and receive the same amount of miles? its a choice of using low grade gasoline and visiting the station more often or using high class gas and visiting the station less often. i dont get it
btw, i heard 76 and chevron are quality gas but not sure if its true. nascar's offical fuel is 76 though.

The same gas they put in a NASCAR is NOT the same gas you'll find at the pump...
I just filled my tank with 97 octane gas. All the ricers with their turbos and ish put gas there. I filled up because I wanted to try and see what it would do and how it would act with my car. Id have to say my acceleration is pretty fukin good. But, this is the only time Im doing it. 2.85 a gallon is just not something I can enjoy.
Please, I beg of ANYONE, please, I repeat, PLEASE do NOT post about what the really high octane gas will do to my motor.

Interesting read...
I try to use Amoco-BP Ultimate... Not just because BP supposedly stands for better petroleum but because when I tried switching to different grades/companies, the car just didn't feel the same... I also just added a bottle of fuel cleaner and I'm loving combo...

i have yet to see a difference in my gas milage based on the brand of gas or even octane. ive been getting 37-38mpg on the freeway with ac while running on 87 octane with the following brands: costco, pilot, beacon, arco, shell, olympian and chevron. of course i dont have a heavy foot either.
