Installing A/F Faze guages
Installing A/F Faze guages
Who out there has installed Faze guages in thier 1.6's before? To be more precise, the air/fuel guage. My question is, for the O2 sensor by the header, what is the color wire that I have to tap into (signal wire)? As well, in order to dim, do our cars have a positive or negative dimming control? Please
Thanks

Positive dimming control if I'm not mistaken. I didn't even bother with tapping into a dimmer. Mine just lights up crazy bright as soon as the key is at ON position.
The 02 sensor wire should be white. The other wire should be green-black and I think that's a ground.

ground, well i have the autometer gauges, and for the gound i just ran it to a good chasie ground, and connected to the white at the ecu, and for the dimmer well i connected mine and when i dimm my cluster my pods get brighter, stupid ****, gota fix that

I had my a/f wired into my o2 and it mucked everything up and the sensor had to be replaced. I think the best way to wire that thing is going directly into the ECU.

So I took it into the dealer and they took her out for a spin with their hand held attached to the ECU. The o2 came back with a low return which is bad because in order for the test to be a success there should be no reading at all. One of the techs said that to avoid this problem I should tapp the gauge into the ECU directly for a better, more acurate reading and to keep the o2 sensor from going **** up.

Hmmm...that's strange, the gauge is not supposed to stick to any part for any extended period of time anyway - the ECU adjusts the A/F ratio continously and as such the voltage coming out of the sensor is dynamic. Mine moves back and forth all the time, but the car is still movin. Slow, but no slower than usual. Damn 1.7L engines!

Anyhoo, back on topic - I just talked to another friend who has the gauge tapped into the sensor wire in the engine bay, and he says he's still OK. Now you've made TWO people nervous.
yeah i heard the if you tap into where the o2 sensor is that you could ***** it up, and that you should tap it at the ecu, and thats what i did. LED go back and forth, red, yellow, green, yellow, red, red, yellow, green, yellow, red, red, yellow, green, yellow, red, red, yellow, green, yellow, red, lol
