from everything ive seen about them on the many dodge boards i look at you wont be dissapointed, many R/T owners are buying them for daily drivers and are very impressed
Its got a lot of what I am looking for ... the styling looks good to me and thos are some sweet seats. Its quick enough for me and I'm not going to be off doing stupid **** like street racing ... and I'm hoping to start Auto-X and that should be a good car for it.
I'm also lookin at the S4 and the IS300 ... its just a matter of what I can find for the $$ i can spend.

I don't see my friends car next to mine so that happened when we all took a joyride to buy an icechest and some drinks. We seen the srt4 being loaded back on the trailer when we got back though. Sucks for that dude, lol.

The things that makes the SRT-4 so dangerous is the fact that it's marketed to kids. It's cheap, it has import type styling, and it's fast. Older, more responsible drivers aren't interested in that type of car. So you have a tiny little car that's really fast that you're specifically marketing to 17 year olds. Of course there's going to be lots of crashes. It not necissarily the car's fault, but in many ways it certainly is Dodge's fault. Oh, and of course parent's too. You'd have to be stupid to buy your 17 year old a sports car like that. There's not alot of room for error in a little car like that, if you crash it going fast there isn't much to protect you.

Anybody know why that SRT-4 engline blew ? Could it just not take the HP ? You can tell when you upgrade the turbos for SRT-4s you get alot of lag.

reading on the srtforums it appears that the guy was trying to push the limits of the stock internals which ended up giving in
Heh, I'd think the internals of the SRT are already pushed as far to their limits as I'd feel safe taking them on a stock set up. Internals giving-in makes for a really pricey weekend, and should be avoided.

kinda off topic but anybody else see the video from sun of the '600' hp srt-4 that blew the motor during a run. i cant find the link of it on the site. guy blew his motor while in 3rd and still pulled off a 12.9
I learned on a torque happy car. Since I learned on a more powerful car I feel it's easier to control a more powerful car. I think it's good to learn on a more powerful car - that way when your parents drive with you you get experience witha more powerful car that when you tap the gas it flies where as learning on Civic or other smaller car you learn on the basis to press down a little harder and give it more gas - then when you get a more powerful car it's much harder to control for a while and results in a jerky ride

it was a 500hp srt 4 and i posted it earlier on in this thread the dyno run and the blow up
sorry its a little late but here is a quote from the owner of that blown srt-4
"Sorry,i blew my baby up it was on its fastest pass of the evening it pulled the best 60ft ever a 1.78 i did not like the tracks surface today the car was spinning the slicks in all 3 gears on the first two passes which caused me to run a 11.7 et with a 2.09 60ft. after i got home i checked the spark plugs and # 2 plg was crushd to pieces. and the whole front of the block is missing. the rods are visible with the bolts still in them butb the piston is gone so the failure appears to be the piston let go. i wiil take pictures of the engine when it gets pulled this week . i will be building one bad *** motor now so give me 4 weeks and i will have a 700hp monster. is all about the business now but i am proud of the stock engine it lasted along time making 530 hp and tq plus at the wheels i am just pissed of it blew before the 10 sec pass. but wait a minute just think about it i blew the engine up before the 8th mile and i still went thru the traps running a mid 12 sec pass at 83 mph i windering what it would have ran on a full pass? well thanks eveyone for your support i love all you srt 4 owners and your loyalty to me . i wont let youdown give me a few weeks and the monster will be completed."
Yeah, I used to drive a 93 metro before I got my civic. It was so slow I actually almost got into a few accidents in it. It's not always better to start slower but it teaches you that driving is a priveledge and shouldn't be taken for granted. Now I have fun making my car faster. I think its better to gradually move up instead of jumping straight to a viper or corvette. Then you have time to adjust to the high speeds.
well you guys have to expect them marketing these cars to kids. it's really a genious move. they are selling like hotcakes. why not build faster cheaper car. it's ok if you dont want one, then dont buy one. they have been doing this for years. think about the old hemi cuda's with drum brakes. that's crazy. dodge is known(or used to be) for gobbs of power and not very good planning elsewhere compared to the other big 3. i'm a fan of the car but we are all entitled to our own opinions. btw no grammar jokes ha ha patrick
The first thing I have to say to those of you that were complaining about kids around you getting nice cars early... thats always gonna happen, so get over it. I do agree that young drivers should drive old slow cars at first. My first car was an 89 corisca... and i loved it b\c it was mine, not for any other reason. It tought me to drive my civic with care... i thank my dad everyday for making me have a POS to begin with.

I don't think price point should be the mitigating factor, but unfortunaltey it is. In an ideal world, kids would drive scooters 14-16 then motorcycles from 16-18, smaller and slower cars from 18-19 then be completely unrestricted after that. This process would allow natural selection to run it's course and make the roads safer for all. The stupid crazy ones would zoom off on their bikes and get splattered.
Oh for an ideal world.

Personally I think it would be good if these things sell because it would motivate companies like Honda and Toyota to maybe put out their own high performance, low cost sport compacts to compete. Not to diss American cars, but if Honda or Toyota made a car to directly compete with the SRT-4 performance wise, I gotta think they'd destroy it. The problem is that I haven't heard about the sales of the SRT-4 and I haven't been seeing them around.
