Flood damaged cars.
Flood damaged cars.
I am interested in buying a new car, I found a style and color that I like for a good price, but it has flood damage and a Rebuilt title. I talked to the dealership and they said that everything that needed to be replaced was replaced (which was only the SRS unit for the airbags). I was wandering how these cars compare to the good cars, I know that they are not as good as those that have never had anything happened to them, but I was curious, I want to see if these cars are worth the drive to take a look at.
BTW, these cars are 2001-2003 Civic EX Coupes with Automatic transmissions.
thanks

Yeah, water pretty much came halfway up the car and it was declared a total loss. Engine wouldn't even work and the inside was flooded. Just be careful with that stuff. It may have problems later on.
Also you will have problems reselling it or trading it in with a salvage title. If they are selling them for like $5k, I say go for it. For $5k you have a car that may or may not crap out on you later, you may be able to minimize the threat of damage by doing some mods and what not. Depending on the mod of course. Would be cool if you could pay $5k for the car, take the rest of the money and throw it into a K20A swap...then you would have what most people paid for their cars here new. Course you still have to deal with the salvage title if you ever want to sell it. I wouldn't pay over $7k for a salvage title...regardless of the car.
