i know a kid that bought a 2001 Ford F-150 4X4. IMO he paid to much for it since it was an auction and he was the only one to bid on it. But so far the trucks held up fine. he paid 15,000 for it
And my dads friend got a brand new benz for $17,000. it only had 9000 miles on it. beautiful car, and he hasnt had problems with it either.

i forgot to mention u usually can visually inspect a car before bidding on it, but most of the time you cant start it up or test drive it. you just gotta rely on your keen eye.

Definitely seems like something to check into. I know I probably would if I were in the market for a car.

try the yellow pages believe it or not. That's where I found two auctions in my area that I have bought two cars from. Both were cars that were traded into dealerships and weren't really worth crap. One, a 1994 jetta I paid 1400 for and the other a 94 Dodge Colt that I paid 800 for. Not bad considering they were both running great, just had body damage and such. Nicer car auctions do exist but to be honest, that's where many illegal immigrants go to purchase cars so lots of the nicer ones get bought at outrageous prices. Both of the cars I bought ran great after investing abour $100 in them for a basic tune up.
