Excuse me members of 7th Gen, but this is my first thread so be patient with me.
I just wanted to know everyones opinion of This Bling-Bling situation I see everyday.
People with beaters with 20's on them,chrome hubcaps and people putting chrome
20's on cavilers.I can go get some aluminum foil and wrap my hubcaps and save like $1000 or more!Wheels too big make some cars sit up like they are tables.I belive the chrome crap came about around 2000 when the rap song "Number One Stunner" came out.
I really don't like chrome due to the fact it can make a car slower because of it's weight....thus lowering gas mileage,is really expensive,can make a car look GHETTO, and/or more likely to be vandalized.

My opinion is that chrome only looks good on black cars for some reason,but i just don't see why it's so popular.I am black and I do listen to rap...just wanted to state that.

Well the term "bling bling" came from Cash Money Millionaires' B.G.'s song "Bling Bling" back in 1999. From then on, the media caught up with it and posers like to pretend that they are rich by putting chrome on everything. Just people with bad taste.

I agree, chrome looks terrible, there is no question about that. Chrome is tacky and it costs too much. It only belongs on Mercedes S classes and BMW 7 Series, nothing else.

chrome on lower end vehicles such as Civics, cavys etc are not that great of a choice. if the need for chrome is wanted it needs to be understated. Chrome wheels and a few accents that's it. I personally like the shine and the look of chrome but it needs to subtle to look good that is unless you are driving a 7 series, ferrari or lambo.

I would sport the Bling Bling only if i had a SUV or a bigger truck, but on civic that will be too much but dont get me wrong some rims out there do look good on civic,

you can make chrome look nice on civics and cavys as long as its done nice, and the majority of the cars out there with chrome look like ***. Personally i think chrome looks like *** on sport compacts, they belong on SUV's, just like the wheels my dad bought for our expedition, eagle alloy 22's

This is a good discussion, I have recently been seeing a lot of "lower-end cars" with chrome and I have to admit that a few of them looked damn good. They even started making me think about going chrome instead of hyperblack.

I think that chrome can look okay as long as it isnt overdone, like someone stated before.

I mean dont drive a civic and put $3,000 19" all flash Lexani's on it ya know. ESPECIALLY without a drop!!!

Proper size and style will make any car with "BLINGS" looks nice.

Certain chrome wheels can look good on sport compacts as long as its not to flashy..putting luxury chrome wheels such as lexani's or arelli's on a civic is just pointless..
In general though chrome looks best on SUV's and Trucks as mentioned before..
What pisses me off is seeing people pimp the 14"/15" plastic wal-mart spinners on their neons/cavaliers/berettas thinkin' they're hot ****..just looks rediculous

Funniest part during my trip to Toronto, and this isn't a racist remark because I'm just stating what happened, was two dark guys riding in a stock dx 92ish civic hatchback this turquoise color with chrome hubcaps yelling out at girls, "Hey you want a ride baby"

Chrome can be nice when used properly. 17" chromies on a black lexus I like. 20" chromies on a cav looks like ***. I can even stand the escalades.

There has only been one situation where an lots of chrome looked nice to me.

Then again these are benzes and they are wonderfully photographed.

Chrome and me are very touchy. Almost always, its just rediculously excessive. Those ghetto-fabulous rims with the crazy designs and huge sizes are gawdy enough, and don't really need chrome plating to be noticed. Taking something simple, chroming it and putting it on a luxo-cruiser in a moderate size increase works. HRE would be a wonderful example of this. Take a simple style, and make it shiny. Perfect.
