Guys, i really need help.
Guys, i really need help.
last night, i drove my friend's car and crashed it. It's an 04 Accord LX sedan with 700 miles on the odo. There is front right damage, and the car is not driveable. This occured at 4 AM so i had to call 911 to dispatch a tow truck. The tow truck took the car to a bodyshop and tomorrow, i will get the estimate and go from there. This is what i need help on. What would be my best option? i really do not wanna get her insurance involved, since it was my fault and i was driving the car. I wanna pay from my pocket. If the estimate turns out ridiculously high at that bodyshop, do i have to call another tow company and tow it to another body shop? im kinda confused since ive never been in this **** up. If i was to get her insurance involved, how much will it affect my friend? please give me inputs. Thanks in advance. And most likely, i will have to move it to another body shop, since the shop they took the car to specializes in benz, porsche, bentley, etc.

towing your car to a body shop is normal, they have to put the car somewhere right? well you don't have to keep it there thou, you have the option to bring it to any other body shop that y ou prefer. they will ask you if you want the money send to you if you have any other preference and tell them yes. it will get charged on you thou to tow it to another place.
alright the first step of the process is that the insurance adjuster will estimate the damage. he will tell how much the damage would cost the insurance money to fix it. then whatever your deductable is, then that's how much you will have to pay, everything above it, your insurance would pay for it. for example, if the adjuster said the damage is $2000 and your/your friend deductable is $250, then you/your friend only have to pay $250, the insurance would pay the cost thereafter.
my advice to you is to see how much the estimate is first and try to find a cheap place to fix your car.
how's you and your friend thou? is she cool with it? hope this incident wouldn't get into your friendship. these are just material things that tests how good of a friend you are or vice versa.

yes, it all depends on what your friend thinks about it. You might get away with just paying the towing charges and the deductable, but if I were you I would offer her about $100 more than the deductable just to be nice...it all depends though.
You can always take pics of the car and bring them to another body shop. The best way is to use your insurance company because you SHOULD be insured under the liability clause in any car you drive. Just be ready for your deductibles and rates to go up. If you can afford out of pocket its prob the best way. Man, if i was her i would chop your ***** off. GOOD LUCK!!!!
