I'm aware that recently they changed the redline and power curve and such on the new S2000's (04, but what about 03?)
Other than that, have they made any changes since they first came out (00 I think)? Cuz I know with 7th gens they keep changing stuff like suspension and sway bars and wheels and gauges and stuff.
Are there any significant differences in S2000 generations, and if so, which is the best? I probably won't be getting an 04 because I need to buy a used car since they're cheaper
Oh yeah, and I probably won't be getting an 00, either, cuz that's the first edition and there's usually stuff wrong with them, right?
Thanks for the input.

As far as I know the only changes were made for the current model year. I've heard of the first year S2K's having problems with their rear bumpers, or something minor like that. You should ask S2000man I'm sure he knows what's up.

Yeah . I'm not sure about the nitty gritty stuff like suspension or anything like that, but as far as my opinion goes, I feel that they just keep getting better and better. The '03s are very very sweet.
I think each little cosmetic change (mostly interior) is good in it's own right. I'm not sure if I like 1 style more than the other. Anyways. . You're in for a sweet car either way you go. As with any new car expect problems the first year.

From 00 to 01, the big change was the availability of the hard top and also the new color Spa Yellow.
In 02, they added the glass rear window.
by that point, I was already out of my S2000 so I didnt keep up with changes. IIRC, the 02 has the addition of Suzuka Blue and they also added chrome rings on the lights, as well as a few changes on the interior (center tunnel covered in leather, different shift ****, different color of trim, etc)
Those cosmetic changes might be part of 03, but I am pretty sure they were 02.
Anyways, those are the changes -- just might want to check out for the years...
Fun car...

My dad has a black on black 02 and when I was last at the honda dealer I was looking at the 04's and they are much much nicer there is more space and the outside got a nice face lift, but I mean an S2000 is an S2000 I wouldn't mind driving any year of them.
I'd go with the '04, (love LED taillights, more power out of a bigger displacement, slightly better looks) but that's out of the question you said. As far as I know there were only the minor changes people stated. You could probably get the first year of production model for like $20k now...

People rag on the '04 because they think higher redline = better.
There's no reason to believe that, especially if torque comes at a really high RPM the car's less drivable for everyday commuting.
The '04 is more practical, and looks nicer with the slight cosmetic changes and the 17" rims. Suspension and trans are tweaked as well. The '04 is the best by far. Not that you could go wrong with any year.
