u cant' compare a DOHC motor that has a bigger displacment to the D17 and say that the focus has more hp. This is common sense.

BTW .........

I DON"T CARE ANYMORE! this thread is so out of hand it's not even funny anymore. In fact it's ridiculous. I like the vic and the focus amongst a bunch of other cars we all like cars and everyone has opinions on all of them. Every car has good and bad parts to it so again who cares anymore. We can go back and forth on any 2 cars forever.

I lost you on that one. Listen I'm not rying to start **** with anyone. I do own an 01 vic ex and I love the car but I must say that I am dissapointed at how under powered the motor is. I guess I should have known that with it being an econo car and all.

The civic will never be built for power. It is built to get u from point A to B. These cars have a ****in plastic intake mani......WTF is up with that. But with some work, these sohc motors can be fast.

Yeah thats true but I also have another disadvantage. It's a damn auto. But I guess I can get some power out of it with some work. Maybee I'll keep it and put some cash into it.

trahma, I was hoping someone would come on and clear up what Zetec is. I fully believe it was a name used to contrast teh Honda Vtec to bring people to their car.

As far as my Saturn, it was 85 stockHP which is basically a joke. The Saturn was a pretty light car, polymer panels save a lot of weight.

Im not a ford fan, wont ever be. Though I am pretty positive the new body style was in 95. My friends gf, has a white 95 GT with the 5.0. They only offered the 5.0 for one year in the new body style. Then switched the the 4.6.

and if I had to pick a truck it would be either a GMC or the new Nissan Titan.

the focus's samurai (ojjr22) strike again!!!

I just closed that 2005 focus thread for his rudeness yesterday and here we go. Appearantly he is not able to not use words like "****", "moron","****" in a debate.

hey ojjr22, I told you, without showing any ability of debate intelligently you can't go anywhere in this site.

Reremember on NHTSA 2001 focus received 1026 complaints for all parts and 2001 civic received 360 complaints only?

Maybe you can file another 666 complaints on NHTSA just to equalize the number? oh but sorry they will need concrete profs as well...are you able to do it?

out of curiousity do you have numbers for the 2002 Focus? 2000 and 2001 were the recall years. The Focus hasn't had luxury of 6 previous generations to get it right.

Nither did the 7th gen civic. Honda changed just about everything, Different suspension type , different chassis, the only thing that remained relitivly the same is the engine.

However there are one thing we need to know in order to not become ignorant Civic funboys ourself.

FORD the company is actually very powerful. Just that cars with the brand "ford" are still crappy. Did I sound contradictory? let me explain, Ford has the ability to buy Jaguar, Mazda america, Volvo, Land Rover, Aston Martin etc So that they must be a very organized and rich company. I will admit they are super as ENTREPRENEUR.

In fact, when we say FORD bought those companies, it does not mean all those brands' car are now designed by FORD motor, it just means that the FORD company has more than 1/2 of their stocks. Cars with "FORD" brand on it is still not the same as having "Volvo" brand on it.

I hope in the future I won't meet some friends driving a FORD and saying it is like driving a Volvo only due to the fact that FORD the company bought VOLVO motor. --Ignorance.

Correction, damn them for changing it without testing it first than. I've had 2 or 3 new sets of struts put in my car, and probably going back for a new set. Im not complaining about the handling, I believe Honda should have maybe done so more research on the struts they used. Not to mention the times I have had them replaced, Ive had to wait 2-4 weeks because they were on back order.

I don't have time to read all the posts, but without any ranting, the two technologies are pretty much the same. there isn't a whole not of difference.

Incorrect Pheaton... I already explained earlier, VTEC isn't an engine where Zetec is.. the stock Focus has no variable cam timing.

The 2.3L PZEV engine is listed in that list. I thought it started selling in Canada this year. Perhaps there's some exportation law that's holding it back. Here's a link to the specs on Ford's page: http://www.fordvehicles.com/Cars/foc...res/specs/#per

lol.

the thread topic in itself pretty much ended any hope for a decent compare and contrast between two competitive vehicle in the same class.

gotta love the "tuner" scene... you got the honda wackos thinking variable valve timing in a econo engine is a 100 shot of nitrous..

and the ford wackos thinking their engine has variable valve timing when it doesn't.

I never once said my engine doesn't have variable valve timing, in fact I've said it twice in this thread. and AFAIK I'm the only Focus owner that's posted in this thread. The Focus SVT however does have variable valve timing, but we're not comparing that. But I do agree, all hope of this being a decent thread is lost.
