Rep Power: 0 Intrested in buying a used '01 DX
I went buy the dealer today and I saw a used red 2001 Civic Coupe DX in trim with added Air Conditioning and the Carbon Fibre trim for the interior. It had 57,800 miles on it and the exterior was in decent shape same with the interior. Mechanically they say it's great for that year but I know that the guy at the dealer who owned it used to drive it hard and is young. They wanted $10,500 for it. I think the price is a little high for a DX but I’m really not sure. Does this seem reasonable? Should I skip it and keep looking?

Rep Power: 372 I agree with everyone here. The asking price on that car is way too much. You could prolly get a dx with that mileage for around $8500. Of course the dealer is charging over $10,000 for it though..
I think you should stay clear of the 01 civic. I had one and it was always at the dealer being fixed. I traded it in because I got tired of all the little annoying problems that you have with a first year car. If your heart is set on getting a DX, then I would look at an 02 or a 03. If you can shell out $3900 more you can get the 04 VP civic....Its the new model that comes between the dx and the lx. It include air and cd player....

omfg I almost fell off my chair.
I bought my red DX for $13k back in 2000 when the 7th gens first came out. That's the only reason it was overpriced for me (the model was fresh). And it came with AC.
That one you're buying is 3 years old with too many miles. Check out Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com) and see how much a 2001 Civic DX with 57000 miles prices at. A carbon fiber trim kit and air conditioning don't add $5000 to the value of the car.

I'd pay 9k at the most if it was in absolute mint condition. But I wouldn't want a car with that many miles on it.
Put a nice DP on an 04' finance the rest. You'll be very very happy.

Rep Power: 357 I have been looking at Buy Sell&Trade, I believe you can get an 02 one for that price with less mileage. Look around, don't go in so easily. Which dealer did you go to?
