Rep Power: 0 I think i messed up my car
ok the 2 days ago i accidentally shifted my car to "2" (bottom gear of the automatic).
so i was flooring my car stepping on the gas pedal to 4000 RPM and made me wondering why i wasnt moving any faster it stayed with a low mph. thats when i notice that i accidentally shifted the gear to 2 without knowing it.
now that i drive my car i notice that i dont feel the accelaration or "vtec" at 3k-4k rpm. unlike before, when i step on the gas harder, and when the rpm gets higher, i get that feeling of car accelarating. so did i mess up anything on the car?

Rep Power: 0 why did you do that?
I was going 80 on the expressway when I had a nice girl in my passenger seat... She was also on my side lease: She hit the shifter into neutral by accident... I reved it way into the red, LOL
My cars alright =]
edit: Thought you can drive in D2... Dono why anything would be wrong

Rep Power: 0 I had a dumb *** friend who drove an auto 7G. He had pro'ly 5 heads in his ride and was down near the mills on 4th. Well this dumbass in the passenger is playing around with the audio and then the driver jerked to avoid an accident- so the passenger slips and hits the shifter into reverse from drive, the car stalls (or whatever it is that auto's do) and to I guess help himself from hitting someone else, or just to stop, the driver pulls the ebrake. Well at 60 mph this is bad, and so the car goes spinnin through an intersection and stops right in the middle of it when traffic is heading our way. In the end no one got hurt thankfully, but his car was ****ed. He told me later that his car was having some similar problems as what I'm hearing from you Pran, and he said that his tranmission got ****ed over because of the shitty shifting. My suggestion would be to just take it to the honda dealership and see what they can tell you. Take care

When your moving foward you CANNOT move the shifter into Park or reverse, the shifter just won't go. I think even the manual 7th gens won't allow the car to go into reverse when your moving foward.
The e-brake lets off once the car is moving foward, when your at speed and you pull the e-brake the car jerks like you just tapped the brakes and then you can drive like normal. So pulling the e-brake at speed won't lock up the tires and cause you to spin

U can still lock up ur brakes while u are still moving by using the ebrake. u just have to jerk up the ebrake hard enough to lock it up.

Rep Power: 0 you only hit 4k rpm? were you stopped when you shifted to 2nd or moving? if moving, how fast? If you were going slow and shifted to 2nd it wouldn't do ****, especially at 4k rpm

If reference to what you said about your vtec not working, if it wasn't working, your engine would sound very different, and your check engine light would be on. I accidently turned off my vtec when doing the vtec light diy, and the engine sounded like it was misfiring. Shifting into d2, shouldn'tve done anything to your car since it won't actually down shift if it's past redline. Some cars can shift into reverese when they're moving and it will do bad things, it can make your engine run backwards... (which is very bad, your check engine light will also come on) or it can simply just break your trasmission

Rep Power: 0 yah i had similar experiences, once taking a turn at a red light i notice a little gap i could go in but when i just finished the turn my friend hit the shifter into neutral and i was reving the engine without moving and the people behind me were pissed. luckily i didnt get into an accident but my friends were freaking out.
also it is impossible to go in reverse auto/manual while driving forward i read it on how stuff works when reading about manual transmitions.

Rep Power: 504 As long as you weren't in 2nd gear over 64mph in an automatic you're fine. 2nd gear ends around 62-64mph in an auto (at least in an EX) so if you were under that don't worry about it.

Rep Power: 0 if i remember correctly the gear was shifted at the very bottom where it says "2". the sad thing is that i was revving up the gas like i would regularly in "D" position inorder to accelarate. but since it was geared into "2" my tachometer was just going into 4000/5000 i dont remember but im sure i wasnt redlining. i was running same mph like 20-25.

as for cars not shifting into Reverse while moving...They can. (at least escorts can). I got stranded in Panama City on spring break a few years back cause my dumbass friend slammed my other friend's car into reverse while we were doing 70. We slowed down very fast and ended up pushing the car 3 miles to a local shop. The tranny was shot, and we ended up trashing the car and renting a car to get home. it sucked.

Rep Power: 0 NO man you didn't in the manual it says, " To shift to second, press the release button on the front of the shift lever. This position locks the transmission in second gear. It does not downshift to first gear when you come to a stop. Second gives you more power when climbing, and increased engine braking when goin down steep hills. Use second gear when starting out on a slippery surface or in deep snow. It will help reduce wheelspin." All the automatic transmission is like on page 180

Rep Power: 0 No man I told u your on crack. I've done that plenty of times the car wont let you go in second gear, because of the revlimiter thank god. It just stays in 3rd gear.

Rep Power: 325 OMG, you guys (most) are ill-informed. Yes, you can shift into reverse while the car is moving with an auto. Some cars you can't but some you can. I remember my friend doing it on his dad's Buick station wagon when I was in H.S.
Secondly, if you pull your e-break up far enough the tires will lock up regardless of the direction of travel or if your front wheels are turned. However, to produce a spin you would have to turn the front wheels.
As for the VTEC not working, you're on crack...hehe. It's all in your head because as you described it, what you did wouldn't affect it.
