Where are Civic Si's made?

Sorry...didn't want to post in the Si forum cause it doesn't seem like it's used all that much. I currently own an '01 Ex Coupe and was thinking of trading it for an '03 or '04 Si. I went to test drive this past Sunday...I drove an Civic Si and a RSX. Loved the Si. Hated the RSX. Anyway...the Si that I drove was made in England somewhere...are they all made there? or are they made in Japan too? Thanks in advance for any info.

Fastback hatch vs. Hatchback
The RSX gear ratio is a little lower. Other than that, they're mechanically identical.

Prawdigy...I didn't like the RSX because it seemed too similar to my EX...seemed like a Civic dressed up in leather. The main reason I don't like my current EX is that every little rough road or bump or expansion joint makes my car jump/rattle/feel like it's coming apart. I drove the RSX and it felt just about the same as my car. There was a lot of road noise and the suspension didn't seem to absorb any of the bumps. Also, there was a ton of engine noise and vibration in the RSX. I was really expecting more. The Si on the other hand I wasn't really expecting to like it at all. I was totally impressed. It has a "Passat" feel...very solid, more European feeling. The engine had the same power as the RSX but it was almost silent in comparison. There was almost no vibration...I was shocked to look down to see that I was above 5k rpm. The ride in the Si seemed much more controlled. I hit those little lane marker turtles in both cars and the RSX was just about as bad as my Civic...in the Si I could barely feel or hear it.

Anyone know if all Si's are made in uk?

Oh yeah...they are practically giving away '03 Si's because they aren't selling well...and the '04s are going to get new headlights, new tailights, silver ringed gauges, new door sill trim, and instead of 15" alloys...16"!!!

I was shocked that the Si seemed smoother, quieter and more refined than the RSX. I know they have the exact same engine...so why the difference?

The '04 Si...I love the new headlights, the taillights I am not a fan of...was thinking maybe swapping them for some '03s. I am very curious to see the new gauge design...the regular civic looks so much better with the newer gauge cluster with the silver trimmed rings. I can't wait to see the new 16" alloys. I think bigger wheels almost always look better than smaller...let's hope that Honda doesn't f*ck up the wheel design.

civicvtec1ps: thanks for the info.

A lot of people seem to think the base RSX is faster than the Si. This is not true, as both cars perform nearly identical. Same engine, 5 speed manual transmission, etc.

Probably deals with the engine mounts. stiffer mounts = better or I should say less engine movement when you push on the gas. Softer mounts= Nice smooth quiteter feel but less performance.... Then again thats just a guess...

vtec.net is running the story on the changes for 2004. The Civic Si gets nothing significant (to me, at least):

-- 16" wheels replace 15" wheels
-- New silver trim on instrument panel and door
-- New headlight and taillight designs
-- New side sill garnish

Full story here:

Okay, the Si and base RSX engines are not exactly the same. The RSX has a little more torque, and there other internal differences.
