project car

Well I am looking into getting a car for a project car. Right now I am looking at a 3000gt, '96 240sx, eclipse GSX, '89 supra, and a del sol. Which should i get?

my thinking

240sx- silvia time all the way
eclipse GSX - has a turbo but i don't know what all I could do with this
'89 supra - old but could do alot to make this a nice car
3000gt - this is more than likely gonna drop from the list. They are cool but I don't know. the clutch seemed way to stiff for my liking and having to drive in stop and go traffic to work would suck
Del Sol - could do a hell of alot to this. Yeah Yeah it looks like a girly car, but it could become a fast girly car

3000gt - REALLY heavy cars(almost 4k pounds). But they did have 300HP(upped to 320 in '94 and it got a 6 speed that year too). But I do like how they look, especially the more recent ones.

I'd go with 240SX

Take the 1996 240SX, take out the KA24DE, drop in an SR20DET, upgrade the suspension, paint it dark silver, upgrade the clutch and flywheel, put in a set of pulleys and an electric fan, and any other little goodies..

That's what I'd do. RWD ownz all...

Have you considered buying a 2nd Gen RX-7? Those are just as sweet..

Old 240sx.. like the 89-94's. Do a S15 front conversion and a 180sx tail light conversion, Topsecret front bumper, bomex sides and rear. SR20DET swap. Build it up a bit. Tein's, Brembo's, New rubbers and rollers, Sparco seats, re do back seats to match. To fully build one up putting down around 400whp your looking at like 20 grand. I've got it all written down somewhere because I was thinking about doing the same thing

I definitely agree. The S13 style was much better. All in all, if he wanted to get a decent 240, he'd have to pay at least 7.5K total for a nice setup (about 250+whp with all the goodies). 20 grand seems overkill, but it all depends on how much HP he wants out of the 240.

I have narrowed it down to the 240sx and Supra. If I got the 240 I would want to do one of two things. Either a silvia conversion, or make put in the SR20 and keep it USDM everywhere else and make it a sleeper. Either way would be awesome. With the supra what all could I do to that. Did they make the 2jz engine for that year and if not, how hard would it be to swap one in?

If ur gonna go with a 240, get the S13 or late S14(97,98). The S13's have a lot more aftermarket products than the 95,96 240's and look a lot better. Everyone's doing Sr swaps..if u want to be different, do a RB swap. Its a great car, i had a lot of fun with mine..i had a 95..i didnt like the front end much, i thought the 97's looked a lot better.
