?honda civic sux!?

That was a really tight post. Kinda long, but tight. So, did you finally learn how do drive stick, or you're still struggling?? I also think the coupes look better than the new hatch, maybe that's why I bought one.

I think a lot of you guys are spoiled. Compared to my 2 last 5 speed Accords, which I liked and were good cars, my 02 civic coupe is a rocket! So it's all a matter of perspective. It will always be slower than my RX2, and much faster than my previous accords. And I look good driving it. The BEST part is putting $18 in the gas tank next to the guy pumping $80 into his navigator. And I drive 2 weeks on that $18. BTW, the Vic is fast enough to get pulled over for speeding
it looks nice

well...it is very slow compare with my last accord ex-r but I think civic looks way better! actually it looks higher class than previous accord! it is the best looking car of its class I'd say.
did I miss any car of its class? maybe someone can tell me which car of its class looks better and way out performant civic...

Your car with all the junk in the trunk is about as blazing fast as a slug with its tail lit on fire hehehe. Can only imagine what would happen to the sti if you invested in performance parts as to what you did on civic mods
man, invest so much to make civic or civic class car into a performance automobile never made sense. It is not hard to understand that. So civic never sucks in the sense that it comapres with its same class's.
That is why personally I think comfort/look/suspension (safety) mods are more for civic or civic class cars.

I know they where no meant to run. But the cars that compete with the civic are slower. And I know it cause of the night races:
Manual Dodge Neon (if you run it right you can beat a stock r/t in 1/8)
Manual VW Jetta (also the 1.8t)
Manual Sunfire/Cavalier
Manual Ford Focus
Manual Nissan Sentra
Manual VW Golf
You just need a good exhaust system .

^^^ An exhaust system on our cars does virtually nothing. The EX exhaust is optimally tuned for our motor, and a new catback will give you MAYBE 1-2 HP. A better deal and performance mod for an LX or lower would be an OEM EX header and exhaust.
Keep in mind...Stock header and exhaust: 4-2-1 header with tuned exhaust on the EX models....same as that $700 system your thinking of buying, the only difference is that nice expensive peice of polished aluminum will make your car sound like a swarm of angry bees.

man, i rememebr when i 1rst joined this site i started a thread similar to this and i got flamed on real bad. i said that the civics are slow *** cars and have no potential to be fast unless u dump a $hitload of cash into the engine. i said that i was going for looks only and i was called a ricer by @ssholes who had an intake and exhaust on their car and said that those things help performace of their car-which i think do not. intake+exhuast adds maybe 5 hp, shaves like maybe half a second of the 1/4 and that was considered a performace mod? i remember som1 even said that "b4 my intake and exhuast i was running 17.24 (i think) and after my intake an exhuast i was running 16.99; and u say those things are unnoticible." bla bla bla, has this POV changed quick...

My civic isn't slow. Now my explorer...that thing is slow. But I can pull a boat with it
My bike is fast though. Save your cash and buy a bike. I can smoke damn near any car on the road

my motto is...if you drive too fast, no one will see your car but a buzz of light that just went by but if you drive slow, everyone will see your car.....better to drive slow and look good then drive fast and not be noticed at all....hahahha...then again a lot of the ppl out here are into speed so do what you like....my car is slow and i never get tickets...hahha
this may be a repost, but i didnt feel like reading all the replies....
honda did not make the civic stock for it to be a fast sportscar
it is made as a commuter, hence the 35mpg we get. you have bolt on mods for your engine, what do you expect? i/h/e isnt gonna get you 30+ whp on your civic, believe it or not. the simple i/h/e is a building block and essential for most other internal engine components and such. civics, when stock, are slow yes, i agree with you on that. but isnt that why you started modding your car? to me, modding a "slow" civic is half the fun of doing ANYTHING to your car. i've seen my friends with their camaro ss's, m3's, and speculate if they had $50k to spend they would get a subaru sti or an evo viii, and when i say, oh man you guys would get that? i would get a civic, prelude or integra and use the rest of the money on mods! they laff, just as i imagine you would. most people just dont understand the fun in working on cars, its up to the people that do, to respect it. just my .02
back to what you said,
if you really hate your civic that much, why did you get it in the first place?
oh, i'll take the seats off your hands

I'm going to echo the people who said that Civics aren't dragsters and were never meant to be. They are first and foremost extremely reliable and economical commuter cars. It is a unique car as it is marketed to nearly every demo out there. Young guys interested in import tuning, young girls looking for affordable cars that look good, and older family types who need an econmical car that gets 38mpg to drop the kids off at school and get back and forth to work.
That said they do have some worth when it coms to racing, albiet not on the quarter mile. The Civic is a superior handling car. On an autocross track a civic will eat mustangs or nissans running 250hp with no problem.

Talking about handling, I smoked some mustangs on highway curves with stock 4 door civic...well, they tailed me and was being a total *** around my car (passed me, slow down, give me finger, tail me, then pass again repeatly...) so I would not say they were not playing all the sudden, once we both arrived at a curve. That is how I conclude it was an actuel smoke. (poor mustang, should be really ashamed)
But why does civic suppose to have good handling? I thouth it suppose to have so so handling + underpower? being an ecno car? Why civic handle better than mustang which is a sport car? does it make sense?

Mustangs arnt sports cars, they are muscle cars.... Theres a big difference. also, Mustangs have never handled that well in stock form, too much weight in the front, and too primitive of a suspension (think Solid rear axel with Leaf springs). They Push (Understeer) worse then us.... then theres the weight.....
Civics are light and nible, they may not have a lot of power but they sure handle good. and it dosnt take much to make them handle VERY good.

this said.
this guy really knows about handling.
Those are answers I expect to hear...
here it goes:
although i agree with azn rj. I like my car. I didnt know that much about cars when buying mine. and the longer i own it the more i learn and what i am learning is that our car isnt and is not going to be fast none the less i like driving my car i think it looks nice not as nice as aznrj's but it looks good. I will ppost pics soon. And even now i compare my car to others and i cant bring myself to say that their car is nicer than mine, plus i hate dealers. to tthose saying its just a money or time thing I doubt it. plenty of time for more aftermarkit stuff and tstill nothing? kinda pisses me off. I have thouroughly enjoyed working on my car and cleaning it, it looks 10 times nicer than my wife's. th
the only reason i went with the civic is the noted history or reliability and price. they werent over priced like some suv;s and i liked its looks i just assumed without really knowingthat it was fast but its not.
hey what kinda front lip is that and where did you get it and how much didi it cost

of course,
the NON-turbo Jetta (TDI) has only 115hp and it is around 30-70Kg heavier than the civic sedan.
It must be slow.
The only reason Jetta is a bit higher in class than civic is because it has the 1.8T version, with turbo-charged engine and leather interior...
but if one turbo charged his civic and change to leather interior with after market part, civic will still cost less than the VW and be faster.
Remember, when compare civic, we must compare it to the car of similar class.
