Question I have a question about the d15b vtec engine

I'm still a bit of a n00b when it comes to Honda engines so sorry for the dumb question(s). I am currently working with a D15B Vtec engine in my 96 civic ex. I have also just learned that there is a 3 stage vtec for the d15b. I also noticed that the 3 stage vtec have two vtec solenoids, mine only has one, assuming i have sort of a basic vtec on my engine. what are the differences? what on is better? and if I wanted to "Upgrade" (if its even worth it) to a 3 stage how would i go about doing it? Note: i do plan on boosting in the near future. I appreciate all the help and info provided.

The 3-stage vtec heads are relatively rare (therefore expensive), so I'm not sure it would be worth the hassle.

The D15B is a great engine if you want to boost. Just make sure you have the supporting mods if you want more than like 150whp.

Thanks for the info? now say i ended up finding one for a good price, would it fit right onto my current one minus the wiring and possible ecu? (Assuming it runs on a different one) ill probably end up scratching that idea but just in case haha

It'll bolt up. ECU and wiring will change, like you mentioned.
