Auto Transmission Dipstick Very Loose

I did a drain & fill with OEM Honda transmission fluid yesterday. All went well, but I noticed that the dipstick for the transmission is really loose fitting. Just curious - is that by design, or has the rubber neck on the dipstick that fits into the transmission shrunk?

1996 Civic with Automatic with 60K easy miles.

Buy a brand new dipstick from a Honda dealer. It will fit correctly.

OK thanks. I was concerned about water getting in, so I will take your advice.
