800 dollar EK Hatch

Hi I am new to the Civic hatch world. This EK hatch that I am about to buy belongs to my tenant and it has a SOHC engine. What should I look out for before I buy it? He wants 800 for it, and the car is a manual. I am coming from a MKIV supra and a NA1 NSX so I have no experience with EK hatches! Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks

Check for rot, can be hidden behind the fender liners, fuel lines, break lines, make sure the engine and tranny are good.

Re: 800 dollar EK Hatch

Remove spark plugs and inspect for fouling (Google fouling chart).
While plugs are out do a compression test on it.
Before final purchase get a leak down test on it to rule out compression loss and head gasket breach.

Get it up on a lift to inspect for oil, coolant, etc..leaks. Also while on a lift check suspension and steering parts (including bushings). Look for abnormal tire wear.

Spray the car down slowly with a hose and inspect for any water leaks in the interior.
If it's an OBD2 then hook it up to a code reader. Better yet a diagnostic scanner if available.

Does the a/c and heater work?
