Re: 1.8 V-tec ltr Civic 9th gen.. how gutless is it?
Just compared the on paper specs .. posted below... 91Kg difference (I do need to lose 30Kg mind )
Just learned 30cm wider so not great for parallel parking !!
And the 7th gen had independent rear suspension and 9th has torsion beam.. really??
I mean it looks faster on paper.. trying to establish if it'll be a disappointment if anyone can enlighten me
I vowed not to replace my 1.6SE with something even more sluggish...

Not much longer.. ABS has flickered on a few times.. exhaust is blowing.. other issues. It won't pass the next upcoming inspection my garage tells me (due in a couple months) and false economy putting more money in!
I might look at later 8th gen models.. if I'm honest.. I don't know what Honda was thinking with the 9th Gen design it is not a nice car to look at IMO
Re: 1.8 V-tec ltr Civic 9th gen.. how gutless is it?
Well, the extra couple months does afford you some time to find a better deal.
Mechanically, the 8th and 9th gen civics are pretty similar, so there's lots of info on here (assuming they're the same in Europe, which I believe they are)
Re: 1.8 V-tec ltr Civic 9th gen.. how gutless is it?
Thanks Chezboat..
The deal on the car is okay.
£8k (approx $11k) for a 2015 1.8 Silver, 1 owner from new FSH with 60k on the clock with1yr main dealer warranty and breakdown cover is decent in the current UK climate.
It's the look (and the allegedly poor performance due to eco leanings - will find out during test drive today) that concern me.
Not committed to buying, but I likely will - it's the best deal I've seen in a few weeks perpetual searching.
If I don't make a decision today, I bet you the car will be sold to someone else this time tomorrow!
Another car that was suggested in my budget is a brand new Dacia ... 66bhp and does 0 to 60 in 16.7 seconds!!!
Downright dangerous IMO !!
If I do not buy the car today, I have found a VTEC specialist locally who says they will help find an FN2 in good shape..
I'm not sure there are many of those around... and the specialist says many are rusting badly now.
This one below is available to me for £4.5k so half the price of the gen 3.. I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I knew it was sound
Unfortunately it doesn't have history to go off and needs inspection etc
Cheers
