How on earth do I find my 2006 civic model type?
How on earth do I find my 2006 civic model type?
I do not see online, in the manual, on the trunk, door posts, under the hood, or ANYWHERE some hint of my model number. It is a 2006 civic built in Canada aparrently. Can anyone help with this strange problem? The book shows things like DX DX-G LX and EX as possibilities. Please help if anyone knows how to solve this hidden secret. Great cars and odd thing to not proudly display!

Alternatively, run your vin here: https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/
that's what I use at work to decode VINs sometimes.
If your VIN starts with a
After that is the chassis code of your car.
after that, it gets to specific codes. Body type, transmission, grade (basically special features that would determine what that vehicle is), model year, assembly plant, etc. with the last 6 digits being the production number (essentially giving your car a serial number)
yeah, more information than you need, but will help you see how decoding the vin could give you the information you need.

- 1, 4 or 5, it was made in a US plant
- 2 means it was a Canada plant
- 3 is Mexican plant
- J for a Japanese plant

- Non-Si coupe: FG1

- Si coupe: FG2
- Si sedan: FA5

Hey thanks a ton! That worked and I was going sideways just reading opinions from folks. I tried the .gov look up thing and it nailed it down as an EX... so finally I know!
