Court Date 2/5/03
so if many of you remember i got a speeding tix back in august
doing 96 in a 65.. and cost of tix was $ 300
i went to court today to fight it. and they Dropped it down to $ 200..
so saving me a little im kinda happy
but then driving home i get behind a 18 wheeler and a lug nut came of the truck and Bang right into my window, so no i have to get a new windshield..
on top of that the strangest thing i have ever seen a cop do is. im on 95 north and there is a state trooper in front of me. one in back and one on the side. im thinking ohh shiznit what did i do now.. they all go up ahead of all the car in the area.. the far left lane was all blocked of with cones. the 3 staties put there blues on and slow all traffic down to about 3 mph for 1 mile.. then in a line they all just drove off as fast as can be and all took different exits of the highway...
IS THAT STRANGE OR WHAT

You should be able to get a replacement for your windshield for free. Just check with your insurance agency. Did you get the plates for the trunk? Might be able to get a little something on the side for 'emotional distress'.
You shoulda blew by the cops to see if they could catch you.

That's good that you got that ticket lowered. The insurance company will increase your premium, but they do it by the cost of the ticket. All in all that should save you more than $100. Try $1,000+.
I hate speeding tickets and insurance companies.
That lug nut coming off of a truck is weird. How do you know it was a lug nut? Did you see it as it hit the windshield? Did it go through it or what? What Krepoort said though, you can probably get it replaced for free. That is if your insurance companies has that sort of option. I know that mine does.
That thing with the cops is weird though. What the hell were they up to?

Thats called a rolling road block. They do those here in the morning on 101 East during construction when they are moving something into the road, or there is a lot of gravel and they want people to go slow.
Thas right...i'm the smart one on this thread. You can all
to me now.

doh that sucks. those lug nuts on a rig are no joke either.
i got pulled over as well 2 days ago. Comming off the MA pike, and this cop blazed out in back of me that was stoped. He pulled me over for a "modified exhaust" and gave me a warning that i threw out 10 minutes after he gave it to me. Even if he gave me a ticket, i would have won. My last civic has a exhaust that was almost a straight pipe with tips, and the judge said there was no proof of the exhaust, no pictures and so on, just what the ticket said, and he tossed it out of court.

Nice! If you have time, I would suggest you search around the forum for windshield replacement probs. Some people said they had problems with leaks and such, so it would be good to have a heads up on the warning signs..
