State Laws and Car Modifying
Hey everyone, as you can see I am from NH. I rolled around with my 17s, intake, altezzas towards the end of the summer and never got hassled by cops for it. After winter I will be lowering and putting my body kit on. Possibly an exhaust also. This is car is my daily driver, and was just wondering what kinds of encounters you guys have had around here with cops and that stuff on your car. Its F****** retarded that I have gotten away with verbal warnings for going 20-30mph over the speed limit, but could get up to $100 dollar ticket for modified parts. Anyone have any stories?

exhaust was my problem. I had a dc sports tcs at one point, and I got pulled over 3 times, and finally went to court for it. It will pass inspection, but it is illegal to mod your exhaust. Basicly, if the exhaust is louder then stock, it is illegal. It got to the point where I replaced the tcs with my stock exhaust again.
some cops dont like altezza's either. Just make sure they day "DOT Approved" someplace on the lens and they cant touch you.

I have 17" rims, kit, wheels, loud sound system, exhaust, and I get hassled once in a while, but who doesnt? My car is a daily driver as well, you should be fine. As long as you dont have anything illegal such as underbody neon's, white turn signals, extremely loud exhaust, etc etc you should be fine. If a cop were to stop you, everything you have on ur car is 100% legal, so he cant give you a ticket unless hes an a$$hole and gives you a seatbelt ticket or something.

Any of you guys know any good autosport places in or near waltham mass? I'm going to college there next year and wondering if theres anything around there thats pretty decent.
I friggin get pulled over all the time in NH. Ive come to the conclusion that its because i have Mass plates!!! haha. I get harrassed for everythin...you name it...exhaust, lights, music....and more stupid stuff..
ESPECIALLY if im at the beach!!! HAHA!!
Im fine in Mass though for the most part

I was pulled over twice, both under 4000 miles. I bought my car modified from Honda and I got pulled over for my altezzas and another time for my exhaust. He hassled me and swore I put it on after I bought it but he couldent do anything about it. Where I live all the cops are a$$holes and there isnt crime for them to take care of so they bug the hell out of us.

I found out a cool law about lowering your car. If a cop wants to give you a ticket for the ride height of your car, he has to verify that the frame of your front bumber is lower than 16 inches off the ground. The good thing about our cars.......you can't see the frame of the bumper without taking the plastic bumper off first. So I believe the cop can't actually do anything unless he rips your front bumper off and measures the height.
