So I recently purchased a 2020 civic hatchback sport touring edition. I also purchased the LEDGlow interior light kit. A feature it has is the courtesy light. This feature is available once you install your kit with the white wire connected to the dome light trigger. The problem I am having is that I have searched multiple sites and the interwebs and I find different color wires that people are taping into. Anyone with a 2020 that can help me figure out what wire under the dash I should tap into?
I'll post up pics later, but there's a grey connector just south of the in-cabin fuse box that's meant for the center armrest and door sill lighting.
If you get impatient, you can Google, but I have a pinout somewhere on my laptop (not home rn), and if you use 2 pins, you'll be able to trigger lighting to turn on with the dome light.

That would be great, thanks! Its just one white wire that comes out of the LEDGlow control box. I have the positive conected to an inline fuse tap and the ground is, well... secured to the ground ha ha ha.
@JustinGuh3 here you go man. No lie, shamelessly stole these pics from a civicx thread from when I was going to do my footwell lighting this way. I said screw it and used a fusetap add-a-circuit thingamajig to an accessory fuse, and my footwell lighting is on if the car is on. I may change it later since I bought a male connector for that socket.
Make note of the orientation of your plug. The 2 pics show the different orientations they could've possibly attached the connector to the fuse box. The connector in the 2nd pic is rotated 90 degrees clockwise from the connector in the first picture.
If you connect the positive to pin 6 and the ground to pin 5, you'll get the effect you want (courtesy lights if doors are open). If you grab power from pin 6 and ground out to chassis, you'll have the lights on when the headlights are on.
I cannot, for the life of me, find that connector for sale anywhere anymore. I got it off ebay for like $7, and that seller doesn't have anything for sale anymore. There was a dude that used the
(pictured in the first pic) and insulated the exposed metal with tubing to connect to those pins, so there's that. Saves you from having to splice wiring

Ok, please forgive my ignorance and stick with me on this, but the control box for my footwell lighting has three wires; red (which I have connected to a fuse tap), black (which is grounded), and white (this is the wire I need to splice/connect to the wire that is for the dome light or other lights that come on when the doors are opened). Are you saying that I could take that white wire and find a way to put it in the #5 port on that 6 pin connector that's open and that would give me the desired outcome?
Hmm.. well, didn't take into account a 3-wire system. I'd have to play around with mine to see how it works, but my understanding is pin 5 to ground will have illumination when the lights are on and using pin 6 as a ground is what will give you that effect.
Only other thing I could possibly think of would be running a wire up the A pillar, across the headliner, and tapping a source off the dome light. My plebian 2018 Sport (not touring) didn't come with the option to have the front map lights turn on when the doors are open, so I had to finagle that by running a wire from the dome light to the map lights. That may be a viable option. You may be able to use my DIY guide for that "hack" as a reference to what I had to do to make that work and use it as inspiration. I will say, it's pretty easy taking off the A pillar and really easy making sure wires don't interfere with the side curtain airbag. If you need instructions how to route that wiring, use my dashcam hardwire DIY guide as a reference. There's a PDF for an auto-dimming mirror install in step 3 that I used to remove panels and route wiring.
edit: also forgot the 2020s came with all the honda sensing crap. Might make it a little more difficult, given the giant CMBS camera is front and center. Luckily, that aforementioned PDF has steps for that, too.

Thanks! I took my A pillar off to instal my dash cam as well so I am familiar. The white wire is not long enough to run up to those lights but I can use a connector and additional wire. Thanks again!
np, let us know how it goes. Wouldn't hurt to play around with that accessory connector, too. If you tap pin 5 for power and ground out to chassis and it works the way you want, cool. You don't even need to crimp anything to test it. A small alligator clip (or similar) on pin 5 or just carefully touching the white wire to pin 5 is all you'll really need to test its operation. You'll be in a position where you can manually depress the door switch to see if it plays the way you want it to.

I was going to ask what the best way you think it would be to put that wire to pin 5 but you kinda answered it already. It'll be a couple days before I can get to it but I will definitely let you know.
lol I chimed in there, too, just to see if someone can tell me if my understanding of that connector is wrong. Or to see if anyone has objections to straight tapping the dome light as a trigger for the white wire.
