IL people w/ tint
Hey guys I'm looking to get my car tinted soon, I know that the law is that there should be no tint present on the front windows.
What I'm trying to find out is what do you guys and girls have on the front windows(%) (the ones that roll up and down not the windshielld), and if you guys get bothered by the cops at all for it??
Thanks for letting me know, I'm looking at getting ful tint on the rear and rear sides, and proably like 35% on the side windows, wha tdo you think of that. By the way that is straight black tint, no metallic or colored

Check it out
5% back 3 windows, 20% sides if you want to see how dark it is....really dark.
havn't got pulled over yet..but yah its illegal. Unless your car was made before 1981 i think you cant tint side windows...ill have to ask my cop friend again here in town...its somethin funny like that.
tint them anyway...

I got the back window and the two side triangle windows done in 20% and havent gotten pulled over yet either. I think you can go as dark as you want on the back windows, but dont know what the limit is on the front ones. Hope this helps.
I fought this in court in cook and kane county, 3 different judges, one ruling. In the state of Illinois if you have -any- tint on the front driver or passenger side windows you can be cited for a non moving violation and you will be found guilty. the illinois judicial system hates tinted windows. on the rear passenger side, rear driver side, and back window their is no law on the level of tint, these can be painted solid black and it would be legal. the windshield can be tinted but only the top six inches, the rest must remain clear.
The one exception is if you have a medical condition, ei skin cancer, that would justify you needing to block the suns rays.
if you have front tints and have not been busted you are lucky. once you are cited/ticketed that violation is loaded on the car's license plate, like a speeding ticket or a dui. so when you are pulled over and the officer runs your plates, tints will pop up and you'll get a ticket. Everytime a cop sees you with tints on the car he/she can ticket you , even if you were recently cited and its peding in court.
If the tinted windows in the front mean that much to you go for it.
For me it wasn't:
$75 in fines
$185 in lost wages from being in court and not @ work
*the hassel of being pulled over on average 4 times a week because of tinted windows.
i removed the front window tints and left my back and rear side windows @ 10%
i haven't been in court since.

I have 5% in the back, 35% on the sides, and a 25% eyebrow. I have gotten pulled over once on an unrelated issue and not a word was said about my windows. I drive around town all the time with my windows up, and at dusk you can barely see in. But not one cop has said a word to me about it.
