1st Annual 7thgencivic.com Meet (Midwest)
This thread has been created so that people in this area can decide on a good spot to have the 7thgencivic.com Meet in Chicago, IL. Just suggest a few places that would be fun to meet and decide on one place that everyone would like. You can also decide on a good date sometime in June or July for the meet.
******UPDATE********
We need someone (or two people) from each Meet to act as a "representative". This person will help with getting Hotel names and prices in the area. At least get a list of hotel names and maybe a phone number, that way the people that are interested can call and get the rates and availability themselves. Your help will be appreciated by all. Thanks

I'm not too familiar with Chicago...but if I and others drive in...How long will this meet be for??? A one day meet? or multiple??? If longer, what kind of arrangments will be needed for us....meaning...I love my car...but I have no desire to sleep in it overnight!!!!!!!!
Just posing these questions so we can hammer out some ideas....I think we should wait till Mid July to do the meet...some peeple...especially high schoolers will have class till maybe sometime in june...and with July 4th...we should probably wait till the week after or so...That's just my idea for the BIG MEET!!!!

T.O?
only thing that im considered is that i might be goin to a summer college camp thing for a intro on graphic designing. so depending on the fact if i go and the date of the camp, is ganna affect me showing up or not.. and i'll get off of work easy. im a "senior" crew so i get alot of beneifts (like pretty much picking my own hours:tup
EDIT: is this going to be just a 1 day thing? or for the whole weekend? (i gatta ask my mom if its for more than 1 day..)

As long as we can all pretty much agree, I say the 13th-14th sounds pretty good. I think everyone whos intrested in going will have plenty of time to make the arrangements.Does anyone know a good place in Chi to meet? I've only been maybe three times and can get myself around O.k. We need some of these local Chi guys to hook us up!
Alright guys I've lived here my whole life so I pretty much know a lot of stuff about Chicago. A good place to meet is the suburbs. Sad to say it but there's plenty of space and LESS traffic than in downtown. Believe me, a hot July Saturday afternoon in downtown Chicago. OMG you don't want to meet there.
However I do suggest that we could drive there afterwards, when we're all set up because ain't nothing like seeing all these people's faces when those Civic's are in a row.
The IL people need to get in on this and start planning now. This meet is going to be big and we need plenty of time to figure stuff out.

I am gonna try and come to this meet and I know some of the other people from New Jersey and around there wanna make the trip. So, I am going to post something in the MidAtlantic forum and try and get everyone together out there so we can decide how this is all gonna work. When you guys set a date, let me know. Either of the weekends in July work for me. Let's get this show on the road!
Well this meet is going to be different. First of all we get photo oppurunities and video making of all of the cars. For this I assume a forest preserve parking lot or other parking lot with lots of space would be cool. Other activities, well there are many things to do here. You just have to be 21 to enjoy em all . I'm not 21 so I will try to plan stuff that everybody can enjoy.
Well okay I'm just going to throw out ideas, a BBQ. A big one. This could be done at the forest preserve. We could do sports along it and people just talking about cars.
A cruise session. Basically we all get in a line and drive around. I'm sure you all like that. I'm thinking of having my friend videotape this out of the moonroof (getting ahead of myself).
As far as other things there is a beach, I live next to it. The problem with that is parking. Chicago summer is real crowded and beach is just crazy.
So how does the BBQ idea sound so far?

I dunno who all is in Chicago...Snowman is one!!! the 13th-14th is fine by me...If no one objects we should just plan on it...I agree the suburbs are gonna be a better place to meet...I've been to the Glenbrook area once before...so I could get myself there...My suggestion is that we find a park of some kind that can fit all of us...big nice parking lot...Maybe a place where we can BBQ...cause I would totally be down for some chicken, ribs, and all sorts of goodies...
I hate to put more work on the Chicago peeps...but I gotta ask you guys to come up with a place that will be good enough for us...Also, we need to come up with idea for us to do while we're down there...I agree w/ Stylin2k1...No reason to drive down and just sit and look at each other...So those of u who know the area best...whether north, south, east, or west suburbs of Chi-town...reccomend some places that we can meet w/o problems, and maybe conjure up a couple ideas of activities or something...
If anyone needs anything...feel free to email me @ planumbomb@hotmail.com or AIM me @ PlatnumBomb
Let's get this thing rollin so we can convince others from farther away to come meet up...Adios mis amigos...

Oh yes The BBQ is a good idea. We do it at a forest preserve. I think the one we met at last time (Schaumburg, Busse Woods) is a good one. Plenty of space to set up all kinds of stuff. We could even get one of those little houses(I don't know what you call them) that give us shade. Anyway, I'm assuming that most of you like the idea of it being a one dayer. Some of you will be driving long distances, we can plan activities for a second day also.
I say it could be people's choice. People who want to go would go, and people who want to stay would stay for the second day.

BBQ sounds great the 13-14 is good for me I can get that time off of work NP is there any hotels near the preserve? i'd be game for a 2dayer. let me know i'll help plan.

I organized the first chicagoland meet, and i decided to do it at Busse woods forest preserve, which is in schaumburg, IL right off the highway, so its easy to find. Its right near Woodfield Mall, is you know it...... I think this would be a great place on WARM summer day.... there are random covered shelters with tables and such all over, so we could BBQ and chill......i live like 5 min away, so i could bring like a volleyball net or somethin too. There is plenty of parking all along there, just ask guys who came to the first Chi. meet. I dont doubt that other local guys(Team Dark Image) would mind helpin set stuff up and help me get it goin there. There are also numerous hotels within a mile, like TONS....i think that cruisin downtown to Chinatown or just in the city would be fun as hell late at night...... Busse should be MUCH better when its actually warm out, cause it was frigid at our first meet
But trust me that place is hopin on a gorgous day, local guys know what im talkin bout........any better ideas, lemme know...

I like the BBQ idea, but who's going to pay for it? Is it going to be one big BBQ or is everyone gonna bring their own stuff and do their own thing? Maybe everyone could pitch in 5 bucks and that could buy hamburgers and hotdogs or something. Just something to think about.

If no one wanted to set up the buying all the supplies...I guess that is ok...We could do it "bring it yourself" style....Everyone brings maybe 3 2-liters of whateva kind of liquid they prefer...we can share...but bring your own...everyone brings a big bag o chips....and once everyone gets there...we can all pitch in 5 bux/person and make a run to the nearest store and get dogz, meat, buns, etc...
I trust that people can remember to bring drinks and other snackables for themselves....Also, peeps will just have to remember to bring cash...I mean cmon...who wouldn't have at least a little cash with them...Just an idea I had....

Well meat and other types of food is kinda expensive. I suggest we have people buy it before and then have them reimbursed with whatever people wanna give. People can bring their own drinks, potato chips, and your basic junk food. What do you guys think?
You really dont reallly have to bring stuff from where youre comin from...there is a Dominicks like 1/2 mile away so you can buy anything your heart desires there so i would worry if you you dont have somethin right away.
