1997 Civic DX swap aftermath
I swapped a d16y7 into my civic. The only issue is that the two cylinders farthest from the place where the fuel line connects to the fuel rail are not firing.
The motor that came out was not vtec and the motor in it now is not vtec. I am using the same transmission. I am using the same wire harness from the old motor.
I checked the injectors and they are working. I swapped the injectors from the un-firing cylinders to the firing cylinders. I checked the current coming from the wire harness and I am getting an equal reading for all cylinders. I cleaned the fuel rail and there were no blockages.
The car was sitting for about two years. We drained the gas and put new gas in.
If anybody has an opinion or any advice on what my problem could be, I would much appreciate it!

I am also using the same intake manifold and distributer off the old motor. The sensors on the intake manifold are the ones from the old motor. The spark plugs are new.

Triple check the order of the plug wires around the dist cap. Maybe those 2 got swapped backwards.
Got compression? Valves adjusted properly?
What happened with the miss? Did the miss move with the suspect injectors, or did the same cylinders keep misfiring?
Were the 2 injectors actually squirting fuel when tested? Do all 4 squirt fuel? Equal amounts?
If injectors don't squirt gas: Get it running and start tapping on the 2 dead injectors. They tend to stick after fuel dries inside them.
Tapping can help free them up....Usually once they start working again they keep working after that.
I see this a LOT on used engines that had sat for any length of time, no matter what brand.

What I did was tap the injectors, put in a new distributor coil, and swapped the distributor wires to the un-firing cylinders. That worked. They are all running, finally.
How difficult is it to adjust the valves? After getting the car running, it started making a clicking noise. I cant say where the noise is coming from, but either way, I would still like to check the valves.
The car is a 1997 and the new motor was out of a 1997.
