Rep Power: 0 My friend and I just messed around with the VAFC settings and it made a diff. in the mid and hi end loss. I'm more confident now that once I get the dyno tuning done, it will produce more power with the proper tuning.

The runners being on the side...I would think... would have to suck what they need from the square chamber in the middle. Which is Ok Up to a point, when the engine needs more air and can't get it. Hence the loss above 5500-5700 rpm. The stock one on the other hand is not as bad as I once thought. It makes the air hit a curved bump in the bottom to split it and have it go up the side. The runners on the stock one start low in the chamber just off of the curve and then run up and to the side of the head. Sure Its plastic but That choice in material is based more on manufacturing costs than air temp or performance. Tooling on a cast piece that involved would have costed a fortune.
Now don't get me wrong I REALLY want this to work and I'm willing to do whats neccessary to get gains from this piece but not only will tuning with a cam gear have to make up for the loss, it will have to make gains that are worth while. Thats alot to ask for from a few degrees of cam timing advance or retard. To me this manifold is looking more and more something for a forced induction application. I hope it works out fro us in the end.

Rep Power: 350 but thats the point if this part was made to work with FI platforms for fullly tuned platofrms he should have stated so rather than telling us the manifold he dynoed gave 7hp to an LX.

Rep Power: 539 Don't much really care if this IM will offer the potential for more NOS since the pussies here in Ontario banned the stuff...All I care about is turbo...I want to make damn sure there is some hope for this motor before I swap it out...I like to keep what it came with. I have 4 grand (cdn)burning a hole in my pocket that I may use for a K20A3 (SiR-Can, Si US) that I found in Montreal. I was gonna shell out another grand for the A2 (TypeS) but discovered that the A3 has lower compression hence, better turbo results...
If this IM is legit even with the extra parts and tuning (of course) I will do it stat! I would love to get what I can outta this D17 before I give up on it...Besides, if all else fails I can probably sell it to one of the 4dr's in the local group here and get the A3.

Rep Power: 0 yeah i definatly want to see some numbers for an EX thats been tuned with an AFC. It would be the deciding factor.
If it only makes power with a turbo, then no, ill wait for the turbo. but if it makes power before the turbo goes on, I would buy it first, in combination with an AFC, because eventually I would want it once I got the turbo anyways.
tuned numbers please!

Rep Power: 0 Actually, you need a screw thingy that screws into the head and also has threads on the other side of it so you can tighten a nut on to it....I'm not sure if that makes sense, but if you take the bolt that came out of the stock manifold to a hardware store, you should be able to find it....Just call me and maybe I can explain it a little better.

Rep Power: 0 The reason it takes so long is because John is very busy...I personally seen his shop and there is all kinds of Honda and Acura engines and parts he his working on for other people. You will get your mainfold, you just have to be patient. If your really worried about the status, give him a call: 770.652.3538

Rep Power: 0 When i installed the IM I couldn't put the bolt in because it was too long...I couldn't get it in the hole (HAHAHA) because the new manifold's chamber was in the way.

Rep Power: 299 maybe they fixed the problem on yours and later manifold by either moving the air box a bit or shrinking it. Gotta luv custom parts. hey cwick187 have you got the cam gear yet? if so how'd it work out?
