Has anyone removed their intake resonator?
I used to have an AEM CAI but I was too worried about sucking in water. So now I have the K and n factory replacement filter. It seemed to help a little. Now I removed the intake resonator so its just the box with the filter in it and now it seems even better. Can this harm anything? The air is getting filtered but I figure it may just get dirty faster. Couldn't be any worse than a CAI sittin low to the ground?????

It will not harm anything. It is what it is...just a resonator to make it a bit quieter.
It did however take air from the battery and headlight area....with it removed it will
mostly be sucking radiant engine air heat.

Don't think you really needed to worry about your CAI sucking in water...bypass valves don't work...you once had cold air sucking into your engine, and now you have hot air sucking into your engine...might not be as good as what you had.

Dont remove the intake resonator. Sure it sounds nicer, but your gas mileage and hp will decrease.
I know because i've tried it for a couple thousand miles.

---------
why will removing the resonator cause the car to lose gas mileage and hp?
is it because the air being sucked in is too close in the back of the engine and sucking hot air as suppose to sucking cold air from near the headlight? i thought the resonator just made it less noiser?
wut if a tube was installed like wut others did and air was beign sucked in was cold??

i have had my resonator off for a couple of months now, i love how it sounds, **** HP, but seriously i doubt it actually decreases it, and u r not harming anything, your engine is breathing better this way, plus now your engine bay is so empty that alot of air circulation will be going on, so not all will be hot air.
a friend of mine with a wrx told me to use dryer duct tube and direct it to somewhere cold, that would be a good idea.

yea i got mine off also... it sounds alot better and i havent noticed any difference in power or Gas milage... i mite cut up a vaccum tube and hook it up so it gets colder air that is intill i can afford a Racer's Design one =D
