K&N FIPK Installed today.
Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about your other intakes? Performance? Noise? I know you mentioned earlier that your AEM and OBX didn't feel quite right in the quality department. I'm using an Injen CAI now and it's been great so far.

200 bucks is a lot to spend on it though.. .but I wish thats what I've got in the first place. I'm sure I would have kept it...
for me, I've got an InJen SRI.. which I got rid of cuz all it did was made noise and waste gas... and now I got a AEM replica CAI.. which works okay... I haven't felt too much lost.. as for gains, i dont think there any noticable difference. and it sounds better than the SRI...
I've also got a ebay header, which I think increased my low end... seems like I get to 3,000 rpm much faster. *shrug* I could be wrong though.

Hey Bart, i noticed in your pics that you had a generic strut bar that isn't shaped to fit on our cars if we have intakes. How did you fit that on there with the k&n intake? is the intake's piping shaped so that it doesnt get in the way of straght-shaped strut bars?

the strut bar he had clears it...
with the right adjustment.. any aftermarket intake should be able to fit that strut bar...
I regret getting the InJen SRI.. and the AEM replica... with the amount I've paid for the both of them, I could have an FIPK now with 30 bucks left over... actually since I sold my Injen... I've only spend 110 on both of those intakes... I'm gonna sell the AEM replica one day.. or stick with it and slap on a K&N filter.
or buy a FIPK.. or just buy a drop in filter..
ah choices.

PS: I also had a Dragon inake that was so poorly designed that you couldn't close the hood. I sent that one back and got a refund.

The brackets on that strut bar put the bar forward of center. It barely clears. So I tilted the bar forward of horizontal and it clears the intake by at least 1/4 inch. If you look at the the ring mounts on this bar, the part that the bar fastens to is offset toward the front of the car.

It's the best price I found. I think they are just about the biggest K&N dealers.
Call them up and shmooze a little. Tell them about this site and that you will give them a good writeup.

hey i had a AEM intake in my car for a week then i took it off for warranty reason, i ordeing my FIPK today, i just found this thread and i was reading that PARANOS heard a sound when he turned off his car,
well i had the same noise, but it is not the valves or any of that crap it is just the intake SUCKING IN AIR, when you just push on the gas and listen real close you can hear that same noise, it is SUCKING, well when you turn off your engine it sucks that last little bit of air in, all cars do that with performance or OEM intakes

My K&N FIPK kit just arrived today from performancecenter.com. The kit seems to be excellant quality. I used to have an AEM CAI and this kit is much better quality. I'll let everyone know how it performs once I get around to installing it this weekend.
No it won't hit the hood. When you install it with the sleeve that comes with it, the end of the pipe actually comes down flush with the top of the throttle body. Leaves plenty room.
Also since this thread was active before, I installed a Neuspeed strut bar. It goes back along the firewall and cowl and leaves plenty room for the intake. Also, being one piece, I think it's stiffer and better than the other types.
Got the strut bar from Tornactive. On their site there's a pic of the Neuspeed installed on Cap Yoda's car.
