D17a1 Cam?!?!?

I was browsing through the net on a conquest for a A1 cam. The only one I found is through Gude cams. Their website has one for the non-vtec 01-02 yrs. I sent them an email and they replied:
Bobby The cam is a non vtec, very good performing cam, and ok for stock ecu price 295.00 exchange a great profile adds up to 20 hp thanks bill Camshaft 01 - 05 Honda Civic 1.7L NON-VTEC
Street/Strip/Circle Track
PART NO: HCCS18
DESCRIPTION: Pulls hard top end.
POWER BAND: 3800 R.P.M. to 7500 R.P.M. (235F 195)
IDLE: (Good) Around 750 R.P.M.
SPECIFICATIONS: Intake: LIFT – 0.388 DURATION – 228
Exhaust: LIFT – 0.407 DURATION – 220[/CENTER]

I've heard that Gude is not the best brand or the best from their customer service standpoint. If anyone can verify this or shed some light on this, I think this cam would be worthwhile.

Re: D17a1 Cam?!?!?

Doing a d17a2 head swap would be much more beneficial than installing this cam, there's a reason why Gude is the only company that makes them. I wouldn't put a Gude cam in my engine.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Good info mindbomber. I was just thinking of a way to gain a little more power then to swap a head. Would be good news for a1 owners if it was legit.

why wouldnt you want to swap the head while installing a cam? vtec alone gives around 20 hp and u can find a good condition used head for cheaper that the cam. then u can put a stage 1 in the d17a2 head and get around 45 hp more than your stock d17a1. AND youd have a reliable cam (crower) and if u get a head with low miles you shouldnt have any top end engine problems for a long time.

imo if your gonna spend the money on that cheap cam for the d17a1 id just do a vtec headswap and if u want put a cam in that.
