Blower motor sucking in leaves/twigs/etc
Blower motor sucking in leaves/twigs/etc
My old blower motor sucked in leaves and twigs to the point where it got so full that it bent up the blower so it makes a loud noise when it spins. I *thought* I knew how to keep leaves out by attaching clips to where I *thought* the air intake is. But I just took out the motor again and found more leaves in there.
A new blower motor is on the way and I want to make sure it doesn't get damaged , and sucks in nothing but air. If I could get some assistance with this, such as where the air intake is, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

lol. What's the rpm on that thing, .5rpm?
Seriously tho, the intake for the blower is in the cowl. Just put a mesh under those slits in the cowl.
btw- I found a mummified gecko the last time I cleaned mine. lol

Well at least I know the intake is where I thought it was. And I'm pretty glad I did not come across any mummified reptiles - that might be a little intense. Never thought about the mesh though, so thanks for the tip.

isnt that what the cabin filters are for? last time i checked my motor looked pretty clean inside. has to be filtered air or it would have dust all over it.
Re: Blower motor sucking in leaves/twigs/etc
This forum says that Civics didn't get cabin filters until 2001 and mine's a 98. Can someone confirm this?
If so, what are my other options?

yeah, 2001+ civics have cabin filters, older does not. guess that could be the issue then.
Re: Blower motor sucking in leaves/twigs/etc
I would (and actually do) replace the cabin filters often in my 04, the reason being that I dont want smelly air. My mothers rsx had 5 dead baby mice one time on top of the cabin filter which lead to a very disturbing odor..

Tell me about it! Happened to her twice, second time there was only 1 or 2 (and the car is garaged). Glad it wasnt my car! lol
While your in there I would just replace them, OEM filters can be had for about $12 a pair if you check ebay
