Header Install
Header Install
Hey dudes !!! I wanna put some sick Strup headers on my 2008 Si with a KZ023 2.0L engine. How long should it take this backyard mechanic guy that I trust to install it or how much should I pay him ? Is it a hard job to do - its probably a tight fit right ?

Re: Header Install
its an easy job. u just gotta jack up the car unbolt like 10 bolts and swap out for new headers.
how much you pay him is different with different locations. for example, here in CA, it would cost you prob no more than 75$ and about an hour of time.

yea there isnt much for mechanical work involved. you unbolt it from the downpipe and the engine, so its definitely only about 10 bolts or less, then just put the new one on, bolt it up. just make sure the guy does an ecu reset and let the car turn on and idle for 10 minutes without touching any pedals so it can relearn the new ratios.
i put my own header on last summer and it was my first time ever doing it and i only had basic tools. it took me under an hour so he should have it done easily in under an hour. you should just pay him whatever a standard mechanic hour costs where you live. where i live its 100/hr and that is very expensive. id guess about 80-100ish.

Don't be fooled, this is a more in depth job than just 10 bolts, trust me. Depending on the tools he has and if he has a lift, and what he knows about the car, it could take anywhere from 2 hours to easily 6.
