Hi all!

I am a nub when it comes to cars.. just started to get into it.

I would REALLY appreciate everyones feedback, ive googled and have gotten mixed answers and who else better to ask than the civic drivers themselves!!

I bought a 04 civic a few months back, its okay.. got a good price so I cant complain.

The only thing is that I wish it were a little faster in first gear... i've heard different opinions that SRI can or will not help me.

So FIRST queston. Will SRI help me at all? I know it will make my rev sound better which is good, but how about acceleration or perhaps torque? i mean even the slighest gain here will make me happy lol.


SECOND question. My friend that knows a decent about cars says instead of buying an intake, its better to just buy the K&N filter and put it on my stock. will this work? do all 04 civic manual have a stock intake?

So to build on to that... whats the most efficient way to get a good intake.. ive looked into ebay kits and it seems the filter is bad so if I just get the ebay kit and buy a seperate filter, thats the same thing as getting any other intake system no?


lastly.. if I can just buy the filter, is it pretty much plug and play into my stock system and bam, thats it?


sorry.. i am a nub... any advice is really appreciated.. i guess im leaning towards installing the filter on my stock but im such a nub I dont even know if this would be the same as a SRI...

argh... please help, and feel free to add anything else..

First Question: A short ram intake won't do much. You might think mentally your going faster, but your probably not.

Second Question: Yes, every car let alone Civics have a stock intake. If not the car wouldn't run. I have a K&N filter in the stock intake system, I noticed a little better gas mileage and a different intake tone.

Yes, K&N sells a specific filter that will replace the OEM perfectly, no modifications

all intakes are the same. If you want one for sound, get an ebay sri and a good filter. dont waste your money on an expensive *** one

I was planning on buying a $40 Ebay intake and spending another $40 for a K&N filter for it. I ended up buying a used K&N short ram for $45 on ebay though, can't wait for it to get here.

Nice man, make sure you clean the filter with the K&N cleaner **** just in case they havent for a while.

for the K&N filter, what is the model # that will fit a 04 civic dx coupe?

ive looked online and there website is a jungle!!!




so will the k&n filter alone on my stock change the noise? my noise is really high but it sounds weak.. i dunno, it sucks.




and for the person that found a use k&n intake on ebay, what did u search? ive looked and all ican find is the cheap ebay kits =(

That K&N air filter you posted got me abit confused. I thought what I was looking for was a cone shaped filter, basically that comes with a CAI but instead of the piping i just put the filter on my car.

what you posted is a fuel filter no?

Sorry im a nub.. and how do u know which k&n filters fit what bc they have no selection per vehicle, only dimensions and crap.

that filter that he posted is the stock filter made by K&N. that filter would just replace what is in the car now. you cant just put a cone filter on the car without piping. it wouldn't fit. better off getting either that air filter that retell posted or you can get some cheep piping from ebay and just hook it up and buy the cone that you were talking about.

when u say cheap piping, where and what would i search to get cheap piping that would fit as an intake pipe for my car?
