i meant get a new sw1 if the one on my intake looks beat up. no way am i getting aem after seeing those pics. its a common paper filter i actually tried one from autozone before and wasn't impressed.
the sw1 only comes in 3 inch and 4 inch inlets so you gotta measure your existing filter.

aem made a big mistake putting the dryflow filters with their intakes. there is no way they can compete with the other brands now. their intakes are gonna dyno stock numbers or worse.

and aem seems to have false advertising i don't see a velocity stack anywhere in those pics. jeez look how much gain the srt4 got from secret weapon intake

hmm, yes. I'm curious to see if the weapon-r filter will make a difference. Hopefully I won't have any fitment issues ... otherwise I might have to cut my injen cai T_T;;;
there IS a velocity stack in the aem dryflow ... it doesn't look like it would be too effective... since it seems like I lost power with it.
I was just reading up more about the weapon-r filter ... apparently there are two velocity stacks ... one at the top, where the ram-air would connect to ... and one inside ...

there was a deffinate gain using this filter over the k&N. When I bough the intake I immediatly went to a k&n cuz like everyone else said I was skeptical about using foam. but then when i switched to the sw filter my seat of the pants dyno old me it was stronger. More low end and allot more top end then compared to the k&n. The sound this intake makes is awsome as well. made my car souns ALOT stronger.

hmm i'll let you guys know how it fits on thursday. i mean its just a filter with a clamp. should go on fine especially on their own intake but they're all the same anyway. the dryflow just wasn't what i thought. i don't think you're gonna like it either.

ya i saw your pic when i was searchin around. the only difference is on the weapon-r the temp sensor is on the pipe opposite the breather, and the filter sits further back because the pipe is shorter after the bend. i like how the temp sensor isn't near the throttle body cause now it won't get as hot or disturb airflow at the tb. and the way these intakes mount to the tb is much better than other pipe intakes like aem/K&N. they barely line up with the tb and can even be off center once you install the hose (unless you have x-ray vision. the injen/weapon-r goes from big to small so you know the tb is getting as much air as possible. you should polish up your header heat shield so it matches the intake

I'm far to lazy to polish my heatshield... although that is a good idea. Or I might just get a header and ditch the heatshield.

header is kinda useless on these cars. just polish it takes maybe 15 mins. i would use mothers mag or billet brand. and looks like you have a dx so bye bye cat if you replace the header.

Na I have an LX.... Polishing that bad boy would take more then 15mins... I polished my rear lower strut and it took forever!!!!
I'm not quite sure how the filter can have a bad fitment. A filter is a filter, unless a company is really incompetent and doesn't know how to measure an inlet diameter.
intake piping, on the other hand, doesn't seem difficult to be miscalculated.
I'm not sure if you guys will notice a loss in power with your aem dryflow ... if you guys know, a k20 motors are very, very finicky with how they ingest air. for example, the average whp gain with an aem or injen cai has proven to be right around 12 whp. short ram intakes have been known to gain around 5 whp.
if a k20 isn't getting the air it demands, it cries like a baby. -_-;
I think my dryflo filter is a restriction on my end.
then again, back when I had my d17, I noticed that my ebay R1 mushroom filter gave me the most power on my butt-dyno than the many other types of filters that I had tested, so maybe you will notice the loss.

do you know how much cfm your motor needs? the sw1 says it flows 800 cfm so i don't think it will be a problem of not enough air lol.

I installed mine today and I can't tell a difference between the old k&n. The dryflow is quieter than the old, raspy noise the k&n used to make. The filter looks stronger with the inner cage than the old dented k&n. However, there is no velocity stack at the end of the filter ( i got the 2.75" inlet and 5" long filter for the aem cai ) which kinda pisses me off cause it said there was.

no ****
. im talking about the dust/ sand that blows around here... i live on the 1 min walking distance from the beach, sand is everywhere, including almost a handful that was in the old k&n that i just got done cleaning. Thread Starter

i have a weapon-r secret SW1 foam filter. and there is a special foam filter cleaning kit you buy. I've never had to clean mine yet, just doesn't look dirty. But the oil is very sticky like glue and you spray it on both sides.
